Note: Lisa P reported that upon arriving for an observation, she sighted several workman on top of the tower and they were removing the nest. After a discussion with these workman, she was told they had a permit to remove the nest as modifications were to be made to the cell tower. Apparently it was assumed this was an inactive nest. The persons in charge of permitting did not know the history of this very productive nest nor did they know the pair had been sighted a few times around the nest in the prior 2 weeks. Nesting season is just beginning . Sadly, this pair have lost their longtime nest. Hopefully upon completion of the “modifications”, they will rebuild. This nest site will continue to be monitored for any signs of rebuilding there or in a nearby location.

Note: Linda O reports: • Last week when I went around I did not see any Osprey Today, February 19th at about 4:12 pm, I observed 1 osprey in the nest, appearing to be looking around for its mate. Luckily, I was there at the perfect moment and the mate flew in, I believe it to be the male, but it is kind of far away and I could not discern male and female with my binoculars. They were definitely a pair by their interactions. I will bring my camera next time.

Note: Joanne V reports: when I first arrived, I saw the back side of an eagle sitting on the nesting tree branch (probably the same one seen previously). I walked around the tree to get a frontal look and then saw an osprey fly into the nest. It happened very quickly. I went back around the tree and saw both Ricky & Lucy in the nest. It’s unclear if Lucy was already there and just Ricky flew in or if she flew in the nest as well and I missed it. After about 15 minutes observing, Ricky flew out, but Lucy remained. Unlikely incubation has started, but will check back in a few days.

Note: Joanne V reports: when I arrived, Lucy and Ricky were on different branches in the nesting tree, one above the other. After about 15 minutes, Ricky flew out of the tree and then returned, flew on top of Lucy and the 2 began mating. That lasted about 5 minutes and then Lucy flew off, but Rick remained.

Note: Mary K reports: An adult bird with a brown body and a white head was observed sitting in the nest, it then flew out of the nest and was joined by two other birds flying together. While flying the birds' wings were in a linear position, like an eagle, rather than in a M position like an osprey. One bird returned to the osprey nest. I think it may be an eagle that is occupying the osprey nest.

Note: Joanne V reports: when I arrived I saw Ricky on a branch in the nesting tree eating a fish. I kept hearing chirps coming from inside the nest, but couldn’t see a head. After a while, a head popped up and I saw Lucy in the nest (see photo). It’s gets a bit confusing at this point because I initially assumed incubation was taking place, especially since I witnessed mating 8 days prior. But then I walked around to try to get different angles for photos, and I missed Lucy leaving the nest, fly into onto a nearby branch. Then I could not locate Ricky. So at this point, I don’t think incubation is occurring unless Ricky went into the nest to sit on the eggs while Lucy was on the branch. I just didn’t observe them trading places.

Note: Sheila B reports: Feb 24, 10:17 – 11:25 AM: When I arrived, two adults (male and female) were both standing on the light fixture actively watching around the nest. There were a couple of sticks already in place (nest must be rebuilt totally from scratch). Both of the osprey started chirping loudly while looking into the sky. Above them was another osprey circling directly above the nest site. They continued loud warning calls for a short time and the other osprey flew off. Sam left the nest and brought back several sticks – one immediately fell to the ground but the other two stayed up. Sammie remained on the nest light the entire time. Sam flew off and shortly after Sammie flew away also. Almost immediately a crow came to poke around in the sticks and it knocked one small one off. Both osprey were still gone when I left at 11:25. NOTE: Last year Sam and Sammie didn’t start building their nest until March 18 so they are starting almost 3 weeks earlier this year. Also, the whole parking area where the nest light is located is now completely cordoned off to keep cars/people out for upcoming work that will be done for the grocery store moving in. I am hoping the increased human activity and loss of nearby trees will not stop Sam and Sammie.

Note: Kathy A reports: nest 9117 - 3/3- I saw two osprey there - one in the nest and one on the limb by the nest - but then their behavior became aggressive toward one another - and not indicative of mating or of a bonded pair - they nearly attacked one another and then both flew off and I haven't seen any osprey there since - there is no indication of nest rebuilding either. But I'm keeping a steady watch as to what unfolds there. (see photos) NOTE: While two were seen at the nest, it is unclear, based on Kathy's report, if this is truly a bonded pair. We are not listing the nest as occupied by a bonded pair yet. We will wait to confirm. The aerial activity MIGHT be the start of mating..or a conflict.

A friend came by and told me he had seen a third osprey harassing Sam and Sammie earlier in the day. They both chased the intruder away. He also observed Sam and Sammie mating. March 5, 10:40 AM – Construction work is going on in the parking lot near the nest but it does not appear to be influencing nesting activities. More nesting material had been added since yesterday. Sammie standing on the nest looking around. Sam soaring around the area and Sammie gives some quiet calls while watching him fly. Note: Kathy A reports: Nest 9117 - I see one osprey either in the nest or on the limb by the nest nearly every day, but I have only seen the pair together twice in the past 2 weeks - one was in the nest calling out and the other was right by her on the limb with his back turned to her the entire time. The next time, March 13, that I saw them together it was a brief encounter which appeared to be mating behavior. But I haven't seen them together anymore or any sign of nest rebuilding yet. NOTE: Based on this update, we have confirmed the bonded pair back was as of 3/3 (reinforced by the 3/11 update) and mating 3/13.

Note: Sheila B reports: Sammie standing in nest, lots of rapid calls and actively looking around the nest area. Male osprey flew into nest area but Sammie flapped her wings stopping him from landing. He went to neighboring tree and perched for several minutes. Sammie continues calling and looking at perched osprey male then around the area. Perched male flies back to nest and both ospreys flapping wings in agitation. Male lands at one side of nest with head down in submissive position. After a few minutes Sammie starts to flap wings, call loudly and move toward male (intruder) aggressively. She continues calling and flapping her wings until male intruder leaves the nest and returns to perch in nearby tree. Sammie continues calling and looking around area. Intruder flies toward nest again and second male osprey arrives making loud warning calls. Males circle nesting area until one finally flies away. Remaining male goes to nearby tree to perch. Sammie continues with soft, lest frequent calls. There were a couple more incidents with a second male showing up but is driven off the nest by Sammie. When I left, one male is perched in a nearby tree and Sammie is standing in nest

Note: Sheila B reports: Sammie standing in the nest chirping. Male flies in and Sammie speeds up calling but it was not loud. Male makes loud slow-paced calls (warning?). A second male osprey flies into the area but does not approach nest. First male osprey flies toward second male osprey then the second osprey leaves the area. First male returns to the nest and Sammie continues quiet chirping. Male leaves the nest to perch on a branch in pine by the Goodwill store (this was one of Sam’s favorite perches during last season). About ten minutes later, Sammie perches on an adjacent branch and continues chirping quietly. Sammie shifts and stands with her back flat and head down while continuing quiet chirps (it looks like she is solicitating mating). Male does not respond but keeps actively scanning the sky. They were still in the tree when I left.

She is flat backed, the typical incubation position. Another nest check will be done in a few days to help determine what may be occurring. In past years, she is lower in the nest during incubation, often unable to be seen except for an occasional head popping up or repositioning. I can back date the nest milestones if needed.

March 20 7858 HHI Osprey Watch 1 Y N incubation
Note: Kathy A reports: Nest 7858 - I haven't seen both osprey again at the nest since the last report but I always see one in the nest. This evening I didn't think there were any osprey there but after a while I spotted a white head bobbing up and down barely above the rim of the nest. I believe she was eating a catch. It appears that the nest is rebuilt, possibly wider and/or deeper than before since I could barely see her above the edge when she was eating. See the attached photo of her sitting/standing in their big fluffy nest! NOTE: Based on the recent observations of Mom down in the nest and barely visible, it is assumed that incubation is underway. It probably started between the 11th and the 20th and will be recorded as starting the 15. This is just our best estimate.
March 20 9117 HHI Osprey Watch 1 N N
Note: Kathy A reports: Nest 9117 - I've seen the pair together a couple more times, albeit briefly. Usually it's just one osprey in what's left of the nest or perched on the limb by the nest. In contrast to Nest 7858, this nest is still in bad shape, with most of it hanging off one limb and one of the supporting limbs clearly exposed. They better get busy with the remodeling! March 20 8990 HHI Osprey Watch 2 Y N incubation
Note: Steve W reports: Even though she is not visible usually, when the male briefly visited the nest, you could see her moving around. He did not bring any treats and they only quietly responded to each other. She is hunkered down incubating and not noticed leaving, although a few days previously both birds were off the nest flying around with some commotion. A third Osprey was seen flying by high and may have caused all the commotion from high above or with a lower flyby. I was not sure if that was an intruder of one of the pair on the low flyby. NOTE: based on this second observation of incubation we will indicate incubation is underway as of 3/15, splitting the difference between the unsure date and this one.
March 21 11221 HHI Osprey Watch 2 N N
Note: Paul P reports: March 21st one osprey was observed next to the nest and the other (female) was observed in the nest but low and very inconspicuous. Can I assume that they have mated and the female is sitting on eggs? NOTE: The timeline is good for possible incubation. We will wait at least another week before declaring eggs laid.
March 21 8889 HHI Osprey Watch 1 N N
Note: Gayle reports: On 3/11 as I was walking I was lucky enough to see one of the osprey’s fishing in the pond and got an amazing video! On 3/22 I saw one of them sitting in the nest. They were being very vocal both days.
March 21 2512 HHI Osprey Watch 0 N N
Note: Linda O reports: I checked on Nest #2512 this morning at about 9:40 AM, hoping to see some activity, but I did not. I could not hear or see any osprey in the area either. I will try again this week. Attached is a picture of the nest which appears to be in good condition, so hopeful.
March 21 9117 HHI Osprey Watch 1 N N
Note: Kathy A reports: Another very brief update on Nest 9117 - just this morning, for the very first time, I saw one Osprey make several trips back and forth to the nest carrying sticks and then arranging them. The partner wasn’t around to help out - it’s a big project and needs a team effort!
March 21 6211 HHI Osprey Watch 1 U N incubation

March 21 5395 HHI Osprey Watch 1 N N
Note: Joanne V reports: only a brief visit today. MO was not visible, but I heard chirping sounds from the nest. It is therefore suspected that she was deep in the nest. PO was nowhere to be seen.
March 21 4074 HHI Osprey Watch 0 N N
Note: Christine B reports: March 21, 2026 #4074 I have not observed any Osprey activity at this nesting site or any type of Osprey activity nearby. I will continue to observe this nesting site throughout this week. My couples are late comers.
March 21 6981 HHI Osprey Watch 0 N N
Note: Christine B reports: March 21, 2026 Nest #6981 I have not seen any activity in or around this nesting site. I have heard chirping and watched an Osprey diving for fish at the lagoon across from this site. I will continue to watch for activity at this site throughout the coming week.
March 21 8215 HHI Osprey Watch 0 N N
Note: Kathy K reports: Once again I don't have anything to report on our nest. We've seen very little of Osprey in our area. Maybe flying over local lagoons, but not stopping in our tree.
March 22 7293 HHI Osprey Watch 1 N N
Note: Mary K reports: Nest 7293: an adult bird that appears to be an osprey was observed sitting on the structure above the osprey nest. It could not be determined if it was a male or female osprey.
March 22 7016 HHI Osprey Watch 1 N N
Note: Mary K reports: Nest 7016: an adult female osprey (identified by a white chest with a brown "necklace") was again observed sitting in the nest.

March 23 2515 HHI Osprey Watch 2 N N
Note: Sheila B reports: Sammie standing in nest calling. Sam flew in with a fish and Sammie takes it to a nearby pine to eat. There are lots of crows that are harassing her but she shoos them away with her wings. Sam stays at the nest arranging sticks and trying out the bowl. He appears to be shoving the nest material out to the sides to create a better nest bowl. While I was watching Sammie, Sam left the nest. Sammie was still eating her fish when I left.
March 24 7858 HHI Osprey Watch 0 Y N incubation
Note: Christine B (Subbing for Kathy A) reports: March 24, 2026 Nest #7858 Today I sat for 15 minutes and did not see any activity at this nest. This nest is large and deep.

March 24 2517 HHI Osprey Watch 0 N N
Note: Sandra P reports: have checked this nest daily and at different hours of the day. Usually Oprah is there by herself. Last time I saw Oscar was Friday 3/20 at 10 am. Oprah comes and goes. Today 3/24. I have not seen her in the nest yet and it’s 2:30 pm. I started checking 8 am…. Will keep hoping.
March 24 7147 HHI Osprey Watch 2 N N
Note: Steve J reports: Yesterday I saw an Osprey sitting low in the nest. I would say the Osprey had a white breast/front upper chest. I also noticed 2 Osprey in the close area flying kind of in a row kind of chasing each other??? One Osprey landed in the nest where the white breasted Osprey was sitting. He didn't stay for more than a second or two and then flew away. From there it seemed like the chase continued in the air....that is again the original 2 flying Osprey. NOTE: Based on this observation, it is POSSIBLE that mating occurred. We will hold off before entering this as a data point.
March 25 7019 HHI Osprey Watch 1 Y N incubation
Note: Linda O reports: I checked on Nest No. 7019 this morning and all looked good. The nest is definitely occupied as you can see by the picture. I did not see a mate in the area.
March 26 8889 HHI Osprey Watch 2 N N
Note: Gayle K reports: I watched the ospreys and they were being very vocal and going in & out of the nest.
March 26 9434 HHI Osprey Watch 2 N N
Note: Ellen S reports: We are continuing to see and hear both male and female. They seem to be fixing up the nest and calling to each other.
March 26 6211 HHI Osprey Watch 1 N N
Note: Joanne V reports: Lucy was in the nest this morning. Occasionally she pooped up, but mostly she stayed low in the nest Ricky was no where to be seen around the nest (although there were several male ospreys out and about today within a mile radius).
March 26 5395 HHI Osprey Watch 2 U N incubation
Note: Joanne V reports: MO was in the nest (which is still surprisingly sparse and shallow- not any rebuilding since last I observed). PO was initially on a branch in the nesting tree, but then flew to another tree and sat on a branch there. MO chirped softly after PO left and repositioned a few times. She does appear to be incubating and while today's date will be used, it's possible she began a week or more ago.
March 26 9022 HHI Osprey Watch 2 U N incubation
Note: Diane R reports: Yesterday I observed Duke bringing a fish to the nest. Daisy flew away with the fish and Duke settled down in the nest, which tells me incubation has begun. Later in the day Duke brought more nesting material.

March 26 6980 HHI Osprey Watch 2 N N
Note: Jeffrey M reports: A bit of an update. Olive Oyl (female) arrival time needs changed . Turns out the earlier report was wrong because that was not Olive Oyl and Popeye ran her(?) off. But the good news is Olive arrived the first week of March and all is going well with the nest and the couple.
March 26 7842 HHI Osprey Watch 2 N N
Note: Carol M reports: These 2 have moved into the tree in my backyard. They are still adding material to the nest and hanging out close to it. I don’t think the female has moved into it yet but I have observed mating behaviors. There are a few other osprey “visiting” so I am trying to figure out if there is another nest close by .the fishing is good in the lagoon behind my house so I think that is why we have seen so much activity.
March 26 2521 HHI Osprey Watch 1 N N
Note: Lisa P reports: Wow! Osprey perched on lower arm of tower. Can’t tell from this angle, but there appear to be attempts as a nest on top of box like structures on the lower platform.

Note: Great observation clearly confirming incubation previous reported.
April 1 9117 HHI Osprey Watch 1 N N
Note: Christine B subbing for Kathy A reports: April 1, 2026 Nest #9117 I observed one adult Osprey perched on the limb next to the nest. She was chirping and grooming herself. This Osprey had a very dark defined necklace so is the female. This nest still needs a lot of repair. NOTE:

Note: Christine B reports: Christine B reports: April 1, 2026 Nest #6981 I observed two Ospreys sitting on different sections of the tower. I sat and watched for several minutes. They took off heading in the same direction. I then went to the preserve side of the nest. I waited for some time but they did not return.
April 1 4074 HHI Osprey Watch 2 N N
Note: Christine B reports: April 1, Nest #4074 I had noticed that the nest was being rebuilt Friday. I decided to give it a couple days and then return today for observation. I spent 20 minutes on the Greenwood drive side and saw nothing. I decided to watch from the Harris Teeter side where I could sit in the shade. I was close to giving up when I saw an adult Osprey overhead .He circled and landed in the nest. At that point of contact another Osprey popped up . After a few moments he took off and she lowered herself down in the nest and I could no longer see her head. NOTE: The description of one down in the nest may be the start of incubation. We will wait for the next observation to confirm this.

Note: Jim H reports: No activity at this nest.
April 2 9196 HHI Osprey Watch 1 N N
Note: Joanne V reports: There was an osprey laying down in the nest. She was in the "incubation position," but because observation was a "drive by" from the highway, there was no way to determine if she was incubating. If she maintains that position over the course of a couple of weeks, it can be safely determined that she was incubating and the date can be logged for 4/2.

Note: Paul P reports: Yesterday, after over a week of not seeing either of the osprey on or near the nest I can now confirm that the female osprey is on the nest and probably incubating her eggs! I could hear the osprey but could not see either of them near the nest. I stood around the nest tree and finally saw the female osprey stand and fluff up her wings and then re-settle in the nest. No photos but I definitely saw her on the nest. At this time I believe that she may have been on the nest with her egg(s) for at least the past week. I am basing this on the fact that I had not seen either of the osprey in the nest tree in over a week. My thought is she was on the nest with her eggs and the male was just away and I wasn't around when he was at the nest. Incubation is estimated to have begun on 3/27/26

Note: Sheila B reports: One adult flying near nest being harassed by a grackle. Osprey chases grackle away. Second adult osprey flies into nesting area and they start flying in circles with one osprey giving loud, sharp warning calls. Fish crow flies close to nest and Sammie’s head pops up above the edge of nest edge. She flies out and chased crow away then returns to nest. Meanwhile two other ospreys continue circling each other and they gradually fly out of the nesting area. Sammie settles back very low in nest (probably incubating). She gave a few short chirps. 4:45 Sammie still low in nest and no sign of Sam. 5:15 Sammie still in nest and no Sam. She gives a few chirps and a second osprey flies near the parking lot but keeps on going. A short while later, two adults circling each other show up in another location near the nest but do not interact with Sammie and leave area. Crows gather nearby in nearby tree. Sammie stays alert and frequently looks around the area and above while occasionally calling. Still no sign of Sam.

There seems to be at least 2 more osprey hanging around sometimes so I wonder if there is another nest nearby. NOTE: The behavior of dropping a fish into the nest suggests that one osprey was in the nest incubating. NOTE: Based on this and the previous observation it is assumed that incubation is underway. Note: Ellen S reports: Incubation probably began in early April. This conclusion is based on the reports of 4/10 saying the male was delivering food and that only her head was visible in the nest. Since no clear observation of incubation was reported March 31 but the April 10 report seems to indicate incubation, we will make a guess that it beganbetween 3/31 and 4/10 selecting April 5 as our best guess.

Note: Wendy and Marie report: There is still no sign of the other Osprey at nest 2674. At first we thought she might be sitting on an egg. The nest looks very shallow. Upon closer observation with additional angles it appeared she might just be "standing" horizontally and not on an egg. After about 15 min she flew off. Because it was primarily horizontal we could not see the breast band, however, I saw a lot of striping where the band would normally be.

Sammie takes fish to nearby pine to eat. Sam stays at nest but keeps calling and looking above and around nest area. Sammie returns to the nest with partially eaten fish. Both Sam and Sammie calling loudly and looking around the nest area. Second male osprey arrives and is seen circling the nest. (Intruder male has one dark feather in the middle of the tail and I am positive I have seen this osprey disrupting the nest at least one other time). Sam leaves the nest and flies right next to the intruder which positions Sam between the intruder and the nest. The competing males are at the height of the nest. Sammie flies out of the nest briefly. Sam and intruder continue flying close to one another, gaining height and before long they leave the nest area. Note: This is an initial summary of the newly reported nest on Oyster Reef Golf. We do not have data on the arrival of the pair, nor the start of incubation. However, it has been reported that based on weekend activity and noise level, incubation may be underway. Once a monitor is found for the nest, we will have better updates to share. The data posted that there are 2 adults and incubation is underway is based on our best guess with the information we have at this point. A neighbor of the nest believes it has fledged young the past 2 or maybe 3 years. Again, we have no data to confirm this.

I see him either on the limb by the nest or standing in what's left of the nest or in the trees nearby. I see him and hear him just about every single day so he has not given up and is still waiting for his mate to return. PS Sub had noted a distinctive dark necklace on the osprey she was seeing, but the osprey I see now does have some brown speckles but not a distinctive necklace, so I'm just not sure - see attached photos. Note: MAT reports: Today, Hilton Head Island SC - Cannot see into nest. One Osprey spotted on a limb to the right of the nest; no other signs of mate, Could not tell if it was Lovey (female) or Thurston (male). Could be incubating if buried deep down in the nest, but doubt it.
April 18 2520 HHI Osprey Watch 1 N N
Note: MAT reports: An Osprey (Nora) sitting quietly in the nest. Does not appear to be incubating and once again, did not see or hear Nick anywhere in the vicinity

April 19 2515 HHI Osprey Watch 2 U N incubation
Note: Sheila B reports: 9:35 Am – Sam standing in nest calling quietly and looking around nest area. There is a second male perched in a magnolia on the other side of the parking lot. There is no interaction between the two males. No sign of Sammie but Sam continues calling the entire time I am there. 1:30 PM I can see the tip of tail/wings and the top of the head and eyes of Sammie in the nest. Sammie is in the incubating position. Sammie frequently turns her head side to side and all is quiet. 1:30 Sam flies in and stands by Sammie for a short while. A crow zips by, Sam flies out and the crow pursues him. Sammie remains at the nest. She gets up and looks like she is either rolling an egg or aerating the nest. She settles back into incubating position.
April 19 7858 HHI Osprey Watch 2 Y N incubation
Note: Kathy A reports: Nest 7858 - all appears well at this nest, each time I visit I see Mom down low in the nest and head barely visible above the rim. I've only seen the mate one time recently - as I was leaving he flew down the fairway toward the nest carrying a big fish! (My observation spot is currently invaded and overtaken by tussock moth caterpillars so I'm not spending as much time there right now but will again once they subside.)
April 19 6211 HHI Osprey Watch 1 U N incubation
Note: Joanne V reports: Lucy was in the nest chirping up a storm. No sign of Ricky. Incubation appears to be going well.
April 19 12573 HHI Osprey Watch 0 N N

NOTE: this is the first year this nest has been in the program. No data is therefore available from previous years. The only information known from 2025 is a renter next door reported on the HHI Audubon facebook page that she had been observing an active nest there. That was in late July.

Note: Sandra P reports: looked at nest 4/15 and 4/22 and there is no activity at all….. NOTE: Will continue to check on this nest for a couple more weeks; if still no activity it will be declared a "failure." History for the last few years show it has been productive in "odd" years.
April 22 2653 HHI Osprey Watch 1 N N
Note: Jim H reports: Nest 2653 Since April 1, there has been an occasional single osprey on a branch near the nest. Today April 22nd, there is a single bird standing there. Probably a male (light chest). I have not observed any activity in the nest nor any food deliveries to the nest. I cannot see into the nest even with binoculars. There are droppings on the street below the nest.

April 24 2517 HHI Osprey Watch 2 N N
Note: Sandra P reports: I’m not sure if that third Osprey that showed up at Oscar and Oprah’s. Nest may have disrupted things ?. There were times when they were both in the nest looking up and Oscar appeared agitated. Maybe they’re just “old”. I did google. Poor Oprah in the nest and just calling and calling !!! Today, I noticed a big clump of Spanish moss in the nest and Oprah was moving sticks around. She was also getting her feet tangled in the moss. Remember one of the chicks died a couple of years ago when it got tangled in it. Later, when I looked, the moss was gone ???? I’ll keep checking ..
April 24 2508 HHI Osprey Watch 0 N N
Note: Carol U reports that this nest has had no activity at all this season. No osprey spotted in or near the nest. It is being declared a "failure" for the 2026 season.
April 24 9137 HHI Osprey Watch 2 U N
Note: Carol U reports: Nest 9137 has been frustrating this year. The first sighting was in late March and then no sighting or calls from the Osprey for a couple of weeks. Then a sighting one day and nothing for days. This afternoon was the first time I’ve seen activity and both birds. It appears she’s nesting and mate us nearby.
April 24 2521 HHI Osprey Watch 0 N N
Note: Joanne V reports: I have checked this nest several times in April and there is no nesting material , so no attempts to rebuild the nest. It is now being declared a "failure" for the 2026 season. No indication that a nest has been built anywhere nearby for this pair.
April 24 6981 HHI Osprey Watch 0 N N
Note: Christine B reports: Nest # 6981 April 7, 14, and 24 No activity. No rebuilding of the nest yet. Based on no activity at all during April, we will only check it once more in May before declaring it inactive this season.
April 24 4074 HHI Osprey Watch 0 N N
Note: Christine B reports: Nest #4074 April 24, 2026 This morning I kept watch for 1/2 hour . I did not see any activity in the nest or the sky above but I did hear a lot of Osprey chirping coming from the nest for a couple of minutes. I was hoping to see the top of Mom's head but did not. This is a deep nest. Better luck next time I hope. NOTE: The chirping from inside the nest could indicate that Mom is incubating but cannot be seen. We will hope to catch a glimpse of her in the nest next time.

Note: Diane R reports: oday I observed Duke brings part of a fish back to the nest and then leaving. I can just see the top of Daisy's head and an occasional wing flap. I'm sure I can hear a tiny peep, so we have at least one baby being fed. Another osprey has been flying around and keeping Duke very busy
April 25 2512 HHI Osprey Watch 0 N N
Note: Robin S reports: Arrived at the nest Saturday 4/25 at 8:45 and observed for 30 minutes. No observation of the ospreys. If the female is sitting on eggs it would be difficult to see her. NOTE: It is unclear if incubation has been initiated. Mating was last observed 8 days ago ago, so it is possible. But will hold off recording that until another observation is made.
April 26 7293 HHI Osprey Watch 0 Y N
Note: Mary K reports: Nest 7293: no apparent activity was observed. While it may be possible that an osprey is lying flat in the nest, it is difficult to see from the observation position

April 26 7147 HHI Osprey Watch 2 Y N incubation
Note: Steve J reports: The pic is not the best but there is an Osprey standing on a limb above and left of the nest. While I was there the Osprey flew into the nest. At that point I was able to see the nesting Osprey.

Note: Joanne V: shortly after arriving at the nest, PO flew into the nest. MO then popped her head up. PO stayed for a while and then flew out. MO settled back down in the nest. Clearly, she is still incubating. (Photo is of PO).
April 27 6211 HHI Osprey Watch 0 U N
Note: Joanne V reports: it was very quiet at the nest today. It is presumed that Lucy was low in the nest and therefore not visible. No sign of Ricky this morning.
April 27 12785 HHI Osprey Watch 0 U N
Note: Mary K reports: I went by the nest today with my husband. We did not see any osprey but did hear them.
April 28 12785 HHI Osprey Watch 0 U N
Note: Alan B reports: I went to have a look at this nest this morning. The tree with the nest is on a cart path and there were golfers out, so I couldn’t get many different angles to look from, so I’ll have to go back there either before 7 AM or after 7 PM. I did not see any adults or other activities at the nest during the time I was there. Note: While there was a report from a neighbor of hearing "babies in the nest", 3 different observers are in agreement that there are no young yet. We are only assuming incubation is underway and that the Mom is down so far she isn't visible.
April 28 8990 HHI Osprey Watch 0 Y N
Note: Alan B reports: Nest 8990 is still in incubation stage as of 4/28/26
April 28 8739 HHI Osprey Watch 1 N N
Note: The nest is in a pine tree that the property owner wants to remove because of damage to his driveway, To do this a town permit can only be issued when the nest is inactive. For this reason, Joanne V met with the property owner to assess the nest and to see if there was a suitable nearby pine in which to place a platform. It was determined that there is no good spot in the vicinity for a platform. The community will require the home owner to replace the pine with an oak, not another pine. It is unclear if incubation is underway. Initial reports indicate possible incubation about 3/31 but it has not been confirmed. There are osprey around the nest but there has been no further observation of Mom in the nest incubating. We will continue to monitor the nest, and if there are no clear signs that the nest indeed has incubation/chicks the owner will apply for a permit after Memorial Day. Even once the permit is issued, it will take some time before it is removed. If there is conclusive incubation prior to Memorial Day, the home owner will have to wait until the end of the nesting season.
April 29 8053 HHI Osprey Watch 0 N N
Note: This nest has been declared inactive for the 2026 season. Since there has been no activity at all.
April 29 6984 HHI Osprey Watch 0 N N

Note: Sue F reports: 4/ 19 Went by 1 time. There was an osprey in the nest. 4/27 Went by 2 times. Definitely an osprey on the nest at least one time. 4/28 Went by 2 times. From one direction I am sure I am seeing the head of an osprey. NOTE: incubation was suspected earlier, but a declaration was deemed premature, however it not appears that it has been taking place. A date of 4/14 will be logged as initiation.
