Description

The Osprey nest is on a piling with a man made platform on top for nesting. The only way to view this nest is either from the end of Brams Point looking towards Broad Creek- you would need access to private property (the last house on Brams Point). Or you can view it from the water- boat or kayak to the end of Broad Creek right before it opens up to Calibogue Sound and the nest is located near the last dock on Brams Point- sitting on a piling.

Note: Mollie K reports: 2/28/26 We have a sighting in the nest! Didn't have my good camera with me, but I'll be out later this week to see if it's the male. (Picture added)

Note: Mollie K reports: Nest 8030 (Bram's point): 3/13/26 Osprey has arrived and looks like she is working hard on the nest. (Picture attached).
April 1 HHI Osprey Watch 0 Y N
Note: NOTE: Based on the reports submitted later, we believe that there were eggs and incubation was underway.
May 7 HHI Osprey Watch 0 N 1
Note: Mollie reports: (NOTE-This nest has a second monitor who updates Mollie to pass along) Brams 8030: I have not heard from Mark recently but will reach out to him to see if he has any updates. Last one was early march and he definitely saw nest making. NOTE: We have adjusted this to indicate that there was a nestling in the nest at this time, based on the hatching date of about May 1.
May 11 HHI Osprey Watch 2 N 1 feeding
Note: Mark and Mollie report: May 11th: We have some movement. She was spotted flying around out of the nest yesterday. When we went by, she returned and looked like she was moving about the nest, but we didn't see any heads pop up. The male was just chilling out on the dock next to the post. She was spotted moving around the nest several times yesterday, so she may be feeding. NOTE: This nest can only be monitored from a boat, so it is often difficult to get reports. Based on observation, we assume there is at least one young one in the nest. May 1 is recorded as hatching, but that is our best guess.
May 13 HHI Osprey Watch 2 N 1
Note: Mark and Mollie report: May 13th: went by today and both were in the nest. Looks like one was tearing up some food. NOTE: Based on this and the previous update, we continue to believe there is at least one young one in the nest.

Note: Mollie reports: 5/20/26: We have babies in the nest. Not sure how many - we think two, but have only seen 1 head so far. Picture included
May 26 HHI Osprey Watch 1 N 2 young standing
Note: Mark P reports: Still two nestlings in nest 8030. I haven't seen a lot of activity in the past few days.
