April 10 HHI Osprey Watch 0 N N
Note: Karen R reports: (Cross Island Expressway) ... No new activity NOTE: While this nest has been well established for years, no osprey have nested in it since 2020, despite a healthy looking nest.
May 3 HHI Osprey Watch 0 N N
Note: Karen R reports: there are now two rather large nests on the overhead structure vs. ONE. They do not appear connected and I did not notice any osprey activity.
May 20 HHI Osprey Watch 2 N N
Note: Karen R reports: Noted ONE osprey in each nest ... difficult to determine if male or female and did not note any young ones.
May 25 HHI Osprey Watch 2 N N
Note: This nest has not had any any real activity all season, except that a second nest was built below the original nest several weeks ago. Then an osprey was observed in each of the 2 nests, but were not together. Today, the monitor was able to get a photo of 2 ospreys in the original nest. This is a fairly shallow nest and there has not been any indication of incubation. It is unclear what this pair will do going forward. It is very late in the season for mating and initiation of incubation for osprey. The monitor will continue to observe with any updates.
