Date Watcher Adults Eggs Young Observations Photo Edit
February 28 HHI Osprey Watch 1 N N
Note: Joanne V reports: while not the assigned monitor t this nest, I was driving by and had my camera so stopped to check it. I saw one osprey on a branch in the nesting tree.
March 7 HHI Osprey Watch 2 N N
Note: Jean Fruh reports that both ospreys were observed resting on a branch near the nest this past Saturday.
April 3 HHI Osprey Watch 0 N N
Note: Jean F reports: I haven’t observed her in nest - I did check last evening and spotted one near the nest - I’ll continue to monitor this weekend.
April 5 HHI Osprey Watch 1 U N incubation
Note: Jean F reports: Mama Osprey is definitely on the nest. I observed her there both Sat and Sunday this weekend. NOTE: monitor declares incubation
April 19 HHI Osprey Watch 2 U N incubation
Note: Jean F reports: Not much change in activity. Female is on the nest (good view from St. John’s Road. Mate is occasionally perched nearby.
May 1 HHI Osprey Watch 0 U N
Note: Jean F reports: have not observed any activity of late NOTE: it is presumed that incubation is continuing, but mama is low in the nest and cannot be seen.
May 26 HHI Osprey Watch 2 N 1
Note: Joanne V reports: I happened to be by this nest with my camera so stopped to take a look. One osprey (presumably mama) was in the nest with butt up, in the feeding position. Papa flew into the nest shortly thereafter, but did not stay long before he flew out. Clearly there’s at least one chick in the nest, but could not see a little white head.
June 1 HHI Osprey Watch 2 N 2
Note: Jean F reports: I visited nest #9089 several times this past weekend and can report some active feedings of what appears to be at least two chicks ( with my binoculars I cannot yet see any little heads popping up) but the females feeding behavior seemed to be directed at more than one spot in the nest (if that makes sense). On Sat evening the mate was close by on a branch.
