April 22 HHI Osprey Watch 1 N N
Note: Jim H reports: Nest 2653 Since April 1, there has been an occasional single osprey on a branch near the nest. Today April 22nd, there is a single bird standing there. Probably a male (light chest). I have not observed any activity in the nest nor any food deliveries to the nest. I cannot see into the nest even with binoculars. There are droppings on the street below the nest.
May 1 HHI Osprey Watch 1 Y N incubation
Note: Jim H reports: Over the last 4 days we have seen an osprey fly off the nest. Again today an osprey was seen perched low on the nest. NOTE: Based on this update we are tentatively listing incubation as having begun on 5/1
May 25 HHI Osprey Watch 1 Y N incubation
Note: Jim H reports: We have had a team of 3 watching daily. Osprey have been observed near and even on the nest on multiple occasions. I watched Mon to Thursday this week and saw a single osprey in the tree on Monday , Tuesday and Wednesday mornings but not often later in the day. On Thursday I was told that there was an osprey on the nest around 6 am. I went to observe the nest around 7 am. There was an osprey on the nest which flew from the nest with nesting material in its talons. We have not been able to actually see an osprey down in the nest. We should know if anything is actually going to result in the next couple of weeks. NOTE: Reports of an osprey ON the nest lead us to think it may be incubating.
