St Johns Place, Shipyard approx 1500' from the former nest that was blow down. It is on private property, but the owners are aware of monitoring. This pair was first spotted in this new location on 3/19/20; they built a new nest in a pine tree just off the driveway between 2 properties. The pair has been named MO (mother osprey) and PO (papa osprey).

| Note: | Joanne V reports: This nest is in tact. No osprey activity as yet. | ||||||
| February 10 | HHI Osprey Watch | 0 | N | N | |||
| Note: | Joanne V reports: no activity | ||||||

| February 28 | HHI Osprey Watch | 0 | N | N | |||
| Note: | Joanne V reports: while no activity was observed today, I did hear an osprey chirping nearby, but could not locate the bird. | ||||||
| March 10 | HHI Osprey Watch | 1 | N | N | |||
| Note: | Joanne V reports: Today was the first time I have seen an osprey in the nest- MO. there was no sign of of PO this morning. | ||||||
| March 17 | HHI Osprey Watch | 1 | N | N | |||
| Note: | Joanne V reports: MO was quietly on the nest. No sign of PO. The nest is clearly smaller and shallower than in previous years. It’s unclear if she is incubating eggs or just laying on the nest. She is flat backed, the typical incubation position. Another nest check will be done in a few days to help determine what may be occurring. In past years, she is lower in the nest during incubation, often unable to be seen except for an occasional head popping up or repositioning. I can back date the nest milestones if needed. | ||||||
| March 21 | HHI Osprey Watch | 1 | N | N | |||
| Note: | Joanne V reports: only a brief visit today. MO was not visible, but I heard chirping sounds from the nest. It is therefore suspected that she was deep in the nest. PO was nowhere to be seen. | ||||||
| March 26 | HHI Osprey Watch | 2 | U | N | incubation | ||
| Note: | Joanne V reports: MO was in the nest (which is still surprisingly sparse and shallow- not any rebuilding since last I observed). PO was initially on a branch in the nesting tree, but then flew to another tree and sat on a branch there. MO chirped softly after PO left and repositioned a few times. She does appear to be incubating and while today's date will be used, it's possible she began a week or more ago. | ||||||
| April 12 | HHI Osprey Watch | 2 | U | N | incubation | ||
| Note: | Joanne V reports: I spotted PO on his favorite branch of the nesting tree as I was approaching the nest. As I was walking, he flew away across the golf fairway to another tree, but he remained in visual contact with the nest. MO was on the nest and chirped while PO was leaving. I stayed about 15 minutes and she only moved her . Clearly, she is still incubating. | ||||||
| April 27 | HHI Osprey Watch | 2 | U | N | incubation | ||
| Note: | Joanne V: shortly after arriving at the nest, PO flew into the nest. MO then popped her head up. PO stayed for a while and then flew out. MO settled back down in the nest. Clearly, she is still incubating. (Photo is of PO). | ||||||
| May 3 | HHI Osprey Watch | 1 | U | N | |||
| Note: | Joanne V reports: I heard chirping inside the nest when I first arrived. It wasn’t until about 10 minutes later that I spied MO on the branch of a nearby tree eating a fish (the head was already consumed). It’s unclear if PO was eating the missing head, but clearly they had switched places. | ||||||
| May 8 | HHI Osprey Watch | 2 | U | N | |||
| Note: | Joanne V reports: Both Mo & PO were in the nest upon arrival and both had heads down and bottoms up. No sounds coming from inside the nest. It was unclear if they were both eating and/or feeding chicks. After about 15 minutes, PO flew out of the nest. MO was deep in the nest and no longer visible. While it is possible there is at least one chick, another observation in 5-7 days would be helpful to confirm. | ||||||
| May 16 | HHI Osprey Watch | 0 | U | N | |||
| Note: | Joanne V reports: it was very quiet in and around the nest this afternoon, so nothing to see or hear. It is still assumed that MO is incubating. Given the timeline, hatching soon occur shortly. | ||||||
| May 23 | HHI Osprey Watch | 1 | U | 1 | |||
| Note: | Hatching is suspected. MO is still deep in nest, but appears to be moving about a lot. | ||||||
| May 23 | HHI Osprey Watch | 1 | N | 1 | |||
| Note: | MO continues to move about in the nest. Often can only see her tail up above nest rim. She occasionally is chirping. PO was not observed. | ||||||
| May 26 | HHI Osprey Watch | 1 | N | 1 | feeding | ||
| Note: | Joanne V reports: MO was in the feeding position the entire duration of the 15 minute observation. No chirping heard and no sign of PO. Based on the timeline, at least one little head should be visible soon. | ||||||
| June 1 | HHI Osprey Watch | 0 | N | U | |||
| Note: | Joanne V reports: an adult osprey was flying close to the nest. While no visible osprey in the nest, soft peeps were heard coming from the nest that sounded like chicks. | ||||||
| June 6 | HHI Osprey Watch | 1 | N | 1 | feeding | ||
| Note: | Joanne V reports: Only had a brief observation this morning. Saw MO toward the left side of the nest and she looked like she might have been feeding the chick. Occasionally I heard peeps coming from the nest,. PO was no where to be seen. Chick still not big enough to be seen. | ||||||
