Date Watcher Adults Eggs Young Observations Photo Edit
January 6 HHI Osprey Watch 0 N N
Note: Joanne V reports: This nest is in tact. No osprey activity as yet.
February 10 HHI Osprey Watch 0 N N
Note: Joanne V reports: no activity
February 15 HHI Osprey Watch 0 N N
Note: Joanne V reports no activity
February 28 HHI Osprey Watch 0 N N
Note: Joanne V reports: while no activity was observed today, I did hear an osprey chirping nearby, but could not locate the bird.
March 10 HHI Osprey Watch 1 N N
Note: Joanne V reports: Today was the first time I have seen an osprey in the nest- MO. there was no sign of of PO this morning.
March 17 HHI Osprey Watch 1 N N
Note: Joanne V reports: MO was quietly on the nest. No sign of PO. The nest is clearly smaller and shallower than in previous years. It’s unclear if she is incubating eggs or just laying on the nest. She is flat backed, the typical incubation position. Another nest check will be done in a few days to help determine what may be occurring. In past years, she is lower in the nest during incubation, often unable to be seen except for an occasional head popping up or repositioning. I can back date the nest milestones if needed.
March 21 HHI Osprey Watch 1 N N
Note: Joanne V reports: only a brief visit today. MO was not visible, but I heard chirping sounds from the nest. It is therefore suspected that she was deep in the nest. PO was nowhere to be seen.
March 26 HHI Osprey Watch 2 U N incubation
Note: Joanne V reports: MO was in the nest (which is still surprisingly sparse and shallow- not any rebuilding since last I observed). PO was initially on a branch in the nesting tree, but then flew to another tree and sat on a branch there. MO chirped softly after PO left and repositioned a few times. She does appear to be incubating and while today's date will be used, it's possible she began a week or more ago.
April 12 HHI Osprey Watch 2 U N incubation
Note: Joanne V reports: I spotted PO on his favorite branch of the nesting tree as I was approaching the nest. As I was walking, he flew away across the golf fairway to another tree, but he remained in visual contact with the nest. MO was on the nest and chirped while PO was leaving. I stayed about 15 minutes and she only moved her . Clearly, she is still incubating.
April 27 HHI Osprey Watch 2 U N incubation
Note: Joanne V: shortly after arriving at the nest, PO flew into the nest. MO then popped her head up. PO stayed for a while and then flew out. MO settled back down in the nest. Clearly, she is still incubating. (Photo is of PO).
