Note: Linda S reports: The male was sitting on a nearby limb and although the nest was next to him, no peeps were heard. This nest is very high in the tree and the inside of the nest cannot be seen.

Note: Linda S reports: On Friday, after rescuing a baby Red Shoulder Hawk in our neighborhood & getting him to safety I was alerted to a baby Osprey that was found on property. I got there in time to find a nice man that was called to rescue & take to Charleston. I’m almost sure it was from the new nest found recently as it was close by. Still not sure how it got there because it could not fly. NOTE: It is not certain that this chick is from this nest. If it is, it is unclear how it fell out of the nest. The monitor will continue to check the nest for any other activity.

Note: It has been difficult to establish a timeline for this nest as it was not discovered until very late in the season. The first observation indicated an osprey present on a branch in the nest tree. A couple of weeks later, an injured Osprey chick (with brown eyes) was discovered on the ground near this nest. However, there are other nests in the vicinity so it’s not possible to determine from which nest this osprey originated. No other activity has been documented. Given this, the nest will be closed out for the season. Hopefully next year with monitoring commencing at the start, it will be a productive nest.
