Date Watcher Adults Eggs Young Observations Photo Edit
January 7 HHI Osprey Watch 0 N N
Note: Kathy A reports that the nest is still there.
February 18 HHI Osprey Watch 0 N N
Note: Kathy A reports 2/17/26: Nest 9117 has always been late to arrive, usually mid March. The nest needs lots of repair so they’ll be very busy once they get here!
February 28 HHI Osprey Watch 0 N N
Note: Kathy A reports: No sightings of any Osprey yet at nest 9117 as of February 28. I’ve checked many times and do not believe that I’ve missed seeing them as the nest is still in disrepair. Fingers crossed it’s just the cold weather delaying their return.
March 3 HHI Osprey Watch 2 N N
Note: Kathy A reports: nest 9117 - 3/3- I saw two osprey there - one in the nest and one on the limb by the nest - but then their behavior became aggressive toward one another - and not indicative of mating or of a bonded pair - they nearly attacked one another and then both flew off and I haven't seen any osprey there since - there is no indication of nest rebuilding either. But I'm keeping a steady watch as to what unfolds there. (see photos) NOTE: While two were seen at the nest, it is unclear, based on Kathy's report, if this is truly a bonded pair. We are not listing the nest as occupied by a bonded pair yet. We will wait to confirm. The aerial activity MIGHT be the start of mating..or a conflict.
March 4 HHI Osprey Watch 2 N N
Note: Two photos were submitted for 3/3 so this is the second one. NOTE: While two were seen at the nest, it is unclear, based on Kathy's report, if this is truly a bonded pair. We are not listing the nest as occupied by a bonded pair yet. We will wait to confirm. The aerial activity MIGHT be the start of mating..or a conflict.
March 13 HHI Osprey Watch 2 N N
Note: Kathy A reports: Nest 9117 - I see one osprey either in the nest or on the limb by the nest nearly every day, but I have only seen the pair together twice in the past 2 weeks - one was in the nest calling out and the other was right by her on the limb with his back turned to her the entire time. The next time, March 13, that I saw them together it was a brief encounter which appeared to be mating behavior. But I haven't seen them together anymore or any sign of nest rebuilding yet. NOTE: Based on this update, we have confirmed the bonded pair back was as of 3/3 (reinforced by the 3/11 update) and mating 3/13.
March 20 HHI Osprey Watch 1 N N
Note: Kathy A reports: Nest 9117 - I've seen the pair together a couple more times, albeit briefly. Usually it's just one osprey in what's left of the nest or perched on the limb by the nest. In contrast to Nest 7858, this nest is still in bad shape, with most of it hanging off one limb and one of the supporting limbs clearly exposed. They better get busy with the remodeling! See attached photo.
March 21 HHI Osprey Watch 1 N N
Note: Kathy A reports: Another very brief update on Nest 9117 - just this morning, for the very first time, I saw one Osprey make several trips back and forth to the nest carrying sticks and then arranging them. The partner wasn’t around to help out - it’s a big project and needs a team effort!
March 24 HHI Osprey Watch 1 N N
Note: Christine B (subbing for Kathy A) reports: March 24, 2026 Nest #9117 I Observed one male Osprey perched on a dead tree limb slightly below his nest. He remained there while I heard him chirping away. The nest needs some work.
March 28 HHI Osprey Watch 0 N N
Note: Christine B (subbing for Kathy A) reports: March 28, 2026 Nest #9117 There was no activity at this nesting site today. In fact the nest was partially gone.
April 1 HHI Osprey Watch 1 N N
Note: Christine B subbing for Kathy A reports: April 1, 2026 Nest #9117 I observed one adult Osprey perched on the limb next to the nest. She was chirping and grooming herself. This Osprey had a very dark defined necklace so is the female. This nest still needs a lot of repair. NOTE:
April 9 HHI Osprey Watch 1 N N
Note: Second photo submitted from 4-9-2026
April 17 HHI Osprey Watch 1 N N
Note: Kathy A reports: Nest 9117 - sadly I've seen only one osprey at the nest persistently calling and calling. I see him either on the limb by the nest or standing in what's left of the nest or in the trees nearby. I see him and hear him just about every single day so he has not given up and is still waiting for his mate to return. PS Sub had noted a distinctive dark necklace on the osprey she was seeing, but the osprey I see now does have some brown speckles but not a distinctive necklace, so I'm just not sure - see attached photos. NOTE: It is difficult to tell the gender from these photos but maybe we can be more certain in the future.
