Note: | Robin S reports: I went last Saturday and today and finally I saw both ospreys momentarily. One was in the nest sitting and one flying away. A few minutes later the second osprey flew off. I waited awhile to see if they were coming back but it may have been dinner time. 4:45 pm. So glad to see them!
April 12 | HHI Osprey Watch | 0 | N | N
Note: | Robin S reports: I have been back to the nest 4 times this month and have seen no activity. I am hoping someone is down in the nest and I can’t see him/her. I have been visiting on the weekends. I stay for at least 15 minutes at each visit.
April 23 | HHI Osprey Watch | 0 | N | N
Note: | Robin S reports: I go by my nest daily as I can see it when I enter our community and still no sign of action or ospreys.
May 20 | HHI Osprey Watch | 2 | U | N
Note: | Robin S reports: we have a live nest! Both adults were in the nest and a fish was brought in. I didn’t see feeding behavior but this nest is difficult to see well until the chicks get larger. I’m at the nest this morning and one osprey flew into the nest and doing some calling. The Osprey was sitting down into the nest and not visible then got up for some preening. NOTE: Joanne V, co-coordinator of HHI program writes: The assigned monitor had assumed this nest was unproductive based on no visual data to the contrary. However, on 5/20/25, she returned to the nest and saw activity and behavior consistent with incubation. As there is no way to backtrack when actual incubation might have been initiated, tentatively the date of 5-20 is being reported. If a hatchling is observed, that date can be changed to reflect a more accurate timetable.
June 7 | HHI Osprey Watch | 2 | U | N
Note: | Robin S reports: went to the nest this morning around 7:30. Both male and female were in the nest. The female was very vocal the entire time while they were in the nest. The male was doing some nest work. After approximately 10 minutes the male left the nest and about 2 minutes the female also left. I stayed about 30 minutes and they did not return. I saw no little fuzzy heads and heard nothing.
June 10 | HHI Osprey Watch | 1 | N | N
Note: | Robin S reports: 1 osprey in the nest. I went home to get camera and came back and osprey was gone.
June 14 | HHI Osprey Watch | 2 | N | N
Note: | Robin S reports: 2 ospreys in the nest. 1 was a male and the other osprey did not stand up enough to be able to determine male or female. The male stood next to the other osprey for about 30 minutes then got up and did a little nest work and fly out of the nest. The other osprey was calling the entire time I was at the nest. No one appeared to be sitting on eggs and no chicks in the nest. |
