Date Watcher Adults Eggs Young Observations Photo Edit
February 24 HHI Osprey Watch 2 N N
Note: Paul P reports he first saw the pair about 2/24/25, but at the time, he was not yet a monitor for osprey-watch.
March 14 HHI Osprey Watch 1 N N
Note: Paul P reports: I show a photo of what I think is PO in the tree next to the nesting tree. I did not see the other Osprey.
March 17 HHI Osprey Watch 2 N N
Note: Paul P reports: I show both MO and PO in the tree next to nesting tree. Did not witness either of them on the nest. 1
March 19 HHI Osprey Watch 2 N N
Note: Paul P reports: I show what I think in PO in the tree next to nesting tree and MO is on the nest, you can just see top of her head in nest. One of them is chirping/crying making lots of noise
March 21 HHI Osprey Watch 1 N N
Note: Paul P reports: saw Osprey bringing small clutch of nest material to nest. Landed in nest with material. Did not witness other Osprey at this time. No photos.
March 23 HHI Osprey Watch 2 N N
Note: Paul P reports: saw both Osprey in tree next to nesting tree. Did not witness either bird on nest.
March 24 HHI Osprey Watch 2 N N
Note: Paul P reports: saw one of the Osprey on nest for short period of time. Hard to tell but from pictures it looks like both of them could have been in nest. Did not witness either of them flying into or out of nest.
March 25 HHI Osprey Watch 1 N N
Note: Paul P reports: One of the Osprey, assume PO was flying over the nest hovering and diving then would fly around and repeat this behavior. I have a video of this but will have to send via a drop service as it is too large to email. I could not tell if MO was on the nest as it we still fairly dark.
March 25 HHI Osprey Watch 2 N N
Note: Paul P reports: MO was on the nest and PO was seen bringing 2 different clutches of nest material to the nest. PO would be in nest for 45 seconds and then flew away and returned within 1 minute with another mass of nest material. It looked like pine needles and smaller material, no sticks. I witnessed PO bringing nest material twice and had to leave. MO was in the nest during this entire time.
March 27 HHI Osprey Watch 2 N N
Note: Paul P reports: 3/27/25 7:05am. PO flew over the nest doing what you relayed as a 'mating flyover', this went on for like 30 seconds. During this time MO was in the nest. After the flyover PO landed in the nest and from my angle looked like he landed on MO! Maybe another attempt at mating? From this time on I have only seen MO in the nest so this leads me to believe that she is on the eggs. NOTE: If mating was successful on this day, it would be 3 days later for first egg. Will tentatively note incubation initiation on 3/30/25
April 9 HHI Osprey Watch 2 U N
Note: Paul P reports: 4/9/25 7:25am Saw PO on the tree next to the nest tree. After watching for about 5 minutes I saw MO moving in the nest. I could see her moving around for about 15 seconds and then she dropped down into the nest and was not visible for the next 10 minutes.
May 8 HHI Osprey Watch 2 U N
Note: Paul P reports: Saw PO leave the tree next to the nesting tree with a fish in his talons and he flew around the nest and then landed in the nest bringing the fish to MO. He was in the nest for at most 2 minutes then flew away.
May 10 HHI Osprey Watch 2 U N
Note: Paul P reports: PO was sitting in the tree next to the nesting tree when a great blue heron flew under the nesting tree. PO took off and chased the heron across the street and to the end of my lot and further. He must be protecting something?! I have not heard a hatchling but MO is still on the nest continuously, she has not left the nest.
May 16 HHI Osprey Watch 2 U 2
Note: Paul P reports: On Friday, May16 I saw PO in the tree next to nesting tree and MO was standing on the rim of the nest. PO took off from tree and flew around and ultimately landed on the nest rim next to MO. PO was there for maybe 60-90 seconds and then flew away carrying what looked like the remains of a fish. PO ultimately landed back in his tree and proceeded to eat. The interesting thing is when PO landon the nest I thought I heard maybe 2 small birds chirping from the nest. Makes me think that the eggs have hatched and the baby's are alive and active. After a couple of minutes MO flew away from the nest! This was the first time I have seen MO off the nest.
May 18 HHI Osprey Watch 1 U 2
Note: Paul P reports :On Sunday, May 18 MO was standing on the rim of the nest again and I heard the chicks chirping again. I haven't seen any chicks popping their heads up to where I can see them.
June 6 HHI Osprey Watch 1 U 1
Note: Paul P reports: On Friday, June 6 I witnessed MO on the nest and saw at least one chick move about. There may have been two chicks but I can only say for sure that I saw one chick.
June 9 HHI Osprey Watch 2 U 1
Note: Paul P reports: Today, June 9 my neighbor cut down the dead tree next to the nesting tree. This is the tree that PO spends all his time in while in the area. MO and PO were flying around the nest while the tree company cut down the dead tree. From what I saw the tree company did not interfere with the nest and I believe MO and PO are still in and around the nest. I will determine if they are still around and send in another update in a few days.
