April 1 HHI Osprey Watch 2 N N incubation
Note: Christine B reports: April 1, Nest #4074 I had noticed that the nest was being rebuilt Friday. I decided to give it a couple days and then return today for observation. I spent 20 minutes on the Greenwood drive side and saw nothing. I decided to watch from the Harris Teeter side where I could sit in the shade. I was close to giving up when I saw an adult Osprey overhead .He circled and landed in the nest. At that point of contact another Osprey popped up . After a few moments he took off and she lowered herself down in the nest and I could no longer see her head. NOTE: The description of one down in the nest may be the start of incubation.
April 7 HHI Osprey Watch 1 N N
Note: Christine B reports: April 7,2026 Nest #4074 I observed one adult Osprey circling above the nest chirping and then he flew off toward the ocean side of Sea Pines. I waited for 20 minutes hoping to catch his return. I did not see him return.
April 7 HHI Osprey Watch 1 N N
Note: Christine B reports: Nest #4074 April 7, 2026 I arrived and observed one adult Osprey perched on the red warning light above the nest. I stayed for 15 minutes. No other activity observed.
April 13 HHI Osprey Watch 1 N N
Note: Christine B reports: April 13, 2026 Nest #4074 I observed one Adult Osprey perched on the tower above the nest for 20 minutes . No other activity observed.
April 14 HHI Osprey Watch 1 N N
Note: Christine B reports: Nest #4074 April 14, 2026 I observed one adult Osprey perched above the nest again. He took off toward the Ocean and I waited at least 20 mins. hoping to see him return with dinner. Unfortunately he did not see him return
April 24 HHI Osprey Watch 0 N N incubation
Note: Christine B reports: Nest #4074 April 24, 2026 This morning I kept watch for 1/2 hour . I did not see any activity in the nest or the sky above but I did hear a lot of Osprey chirping coming from the nest for a couple of minutes. I was hoping to see the top of Mom's head but did not. This is a deep nest. Better luck next time I hope. NOTE: The chirping from inside the nest could indicate that Mom is incubating but cannot be seen. We will hope to catch a glimpse of her in the nest next time.
May 1 HHI Osprey Watch 1 U N
Note: Christine B reports: I observed this nest twice today. Once in the morning and again in the afternoon. Both times one adult Osprey was standing guard above the nest perched on the red warning light. I waited and hoped to see some movement in the nest but I did not see any. This nest is deep. I have only seen the top of Mom’s head once . NOTE: There are still signs that incubation may be underway, especially since one osprey seems to be standing guard above the nest. Signs include April 1st glimpse of one down in the nest and April 24th chirping from the nest. It is a deep nest and Mom could be so far down that she is not often visible.
May 5 HHI Osprey Watch 2 U Y feeding
Note: Christine B reports:May 5, 2026 Nest # 4074 This afternoon I am happy to report that I observed Dad Osprey drop off a fish in the nest. Mom popped up and stood in the nest. Her head kept bobbing up and down so I am thinking she may have been feeding her hatchlings or just enjoying her meal. Dad perched on the red warning light and kept watch. There was some chirping going on as well. NOTE: Based on this report mentioning head bobbing/feeding motion and the estimated date of incubation, we are assuming that a least one egg has hatched.
May 11 HHI Osprey Watch 0 U Y
Note: Christine B reports: May 11, 2026 Nest #4074 I did not see any activity in this nest today..
May 14 HHI Osprey Watch 0 U 2 young standing
Note: Christine B reports: I am thrilled to report that I saw small osprey heads pop up in two different places in this nest today. So at least there are two hatchlings in this nest. I did not see Mom or Dad today . I hope they were nearby.
May 17 HHI Osprey Watch 2 N Y
Note: Christine B reports: This morning I went to nest 4074 and heard some chirping coming from the nest. I observed an adult Osprey circling in the distance. I waited and after a few minutes he made his way into the nest with a fish. Mom Osprey popped up for a moment and Dad Osprey dropped the fish and took off toward the Ocean. Mom disappeared from sight. No more activity observed.
May 20 HHI Osprey Watch 1 N 2
Note: Christine B reports: May 19 and May 20,2026 I checked on this nest two days in a row hoping for different observations. Both days I arrived and observed one adult Osprey perched on a metal rod rising up above the nest. I observed for 20 minutes both days with nothing else to report. NOTE: Based on previous observations we believe the two young ones were down low in the nest.
May 25 HHI Osprey Watch 1 N 2
Note: Christine B reports: When I arrived at this nest I observed one adult Osprey perched below the nest on the metal structure. He was chirping loudly. I also heard some faint chirping coming from the nest. The adult Osprey took off heading over to the Club Course of Sea Pines. I waited for about 10 minute and I observed an Osprey come from the CC direction, circling above the nest to achieve lift. I hoped that dad was returning but he flew over to the ocean side of Sea Pines. Of course I don't know if it was the same Osprey. I waited 45 minutes hoping for his return but he did not return in that time frame. NOTE: We assume the two young were down in the nest and the chirping from the nest backs this up.
June 1 HHI Osprey Watch 1 N 2
Note: Christine B reports: June 1,2026 Nest # 4074 I arrived at this nest at 10:00 am there was nothing going on . It was very quiet. I waited for several minutes and an adult Osprey came flying into view circled above the nest chirping loudly. I hoped for more interaction but he flew off in the direction he came from. I waited and hoped he would return but he did not return while I was there. note: Based on previous reports and a report of seeing two little heads pop up, we assume that there are still 2 young in the nest.
June 4 HHI Osprey Watch 0 N 2
Note: Christine B reports: June 4 , 2026 Nest #4074 I arrived at this nest at 11:15. Upon my arrival I could hear some very loud Osprey chirping. It sounded like it was coming from the nest. It stopped after a few minutes . It was dead silent, nothing going on above . I hung out for some time watching the nest with my binoculars. No movement seen . NOTE: Again, we assume the two young were chirping but way down in the nest.
June 9 HHI Osprey Watch 2 N 2
Note: Christine B reports: I observed one adult Osprey perched above the nest . I could hear some very soft chirping. I waited and Dad flew off towards the ocean and Mom popped up from the nest flapping her wings. She then hunkered down in the nest and I could no longer see her body. I waited for 15 mins. but Dad did not return while I was there NOTE: We are assuming that there are still young down in the nest with Mom.
