HHI Osprey Watch
Description
Location is next to the 17th green on the Jones Golf Course in Palmetto Dunes. There are 2 vine covered pine trees just east of the green. The nest is in the right tree if you are standing on the green facing east. It is not real visible but I saw an Osprey fly into the tree/nest.

Note: | Mollie K: This nest was funny. Original monitor did not want to monitor this year. We found a replacement and she watched it until end of March beginning of April. We had the feeling that no one was returning. Then at the end of June the original monitor sent a message stating he had seen osprey here for a couple weeks and it is possible one he saw could be a fledgling. I went ahead and marked early May for the pair possibly returning.
June 29 | HHI Osprey Watch | 2 | N | N
Note: | Steve J: I have been by the nest three times this past wk. The first two times I saw an adult Osprey on the side of the nest. Today I saw 2 Ospreyon the side or in the nest. I believe ? 2adults? One was flapping its wings? Could it be a chick? **Note Steve original was not going to watch nest, had another monitor watch it beginning of season and there was completely no activity. we thought it may be inactive. Steve was golfing a few weeks ago and saw osprey and is now reporting on the nest again.
July 15 | HHI Osprey Watch | 1 | N | N
Note: | Steve J: I am out of town for the month of July. The last time I visited the nest prior to leaving about 10 days ago there was an Osprey on a branch a few feet from the nest and another Osprey in the nest flapping its wings. I assume the Osprey on the branch was an adult. I can’t say if the flapping Osprey was an adult or chick. It was of decent size though. |
