May 9 8615 CBEC 2 U N
Note: 5/8/24 (12:30-1:15 pm) Warm, sunny, no wind. Sticks on platform. Two Ospreys were perched on the side of the platform. After 15 minutes, one Osprey flew off. The other Osprey nestled in the center of the nest. I could not see if there were eggs or young in the nest. The first Osprey did not return while I was observing. (dlm)
May 9 8613 CBEC 2 N N
May 14 8620 CBEC 1 N N
Note: We are surmising with the heavy spring rain, the migration and nesting were delayed. We have seen 1 osprey on the Platform (5/8).
May 14 9431 CBEC 2 N N
Note: The Osprey prevailed and routed the Duck off the platform and have now occupied it! The "squatter" duck had been there for nearly a month. Because of the stubborn duck, the Osprey built a next on a pilon at the end of a nearby pier. It was extremely unlikely that "nest" would be a reliable home. We were skeptical, but are happy the Osprey prevailed and took the platform back!
May 17 8612 CBEC 0 N N
Note: Last checked the nest on May 11 around 2pm and there was a Canada goose settled in on the platform again. Looks like this is home for them this season.

Note: It appears this nest platform will not be used this year.
May 23 8615 CBEC 2 U U
Note: 5/21/24 - 1pm Two Ospreys were perched on the platform next to the nest. Several kayakers paddled by and the Ospreys squawked repeatedly to them. I could not see if there were any young in the nest. The parents were quite upset. (dlm)
May 28 9424 CBEC 0 N N
Note: It appears this nest will not be used this year. It was build by ospreys 3 yrs ago, this is the first year it is not occupied.
May 29 8615 CBEC 2 U U
Note: 5/28/24 (2pm): Nest seems have sustained damage from yesterday's storm. However, there was still some nesting material present. One Osprey was nestled down in what remained of the nest. I could not see if there were any young in the nest but I expect there should be soon given that an Osprey has been laying on the nest for at least one week and appears to be laying more upright. (dlm)

July 5 8615 CBEC 2 Y U incubation, feeding
Note: July 03, 2024. 7:40 am. Sunny 67 degrees. Female was observed feeding young. It was difficult to see if 2 or 3 young were present (will check with scope later). No male was present, but on July 01, 2024 it was observed that the male flew to the platform with a fish, and the female started feeding young immediately. The nest is not deep, but distant from the observation point; and, young are big enough to be seen above the nest perimeter. jw

Note: There was no activity on 7/2/2024 when I checked the nest. The week prior there were 1 or 2 osprey flying in the area. 2 weeks prior, 2 adults flew in and sat on the 2 posts by the stone jetty where I had seen the nesting adults sitting. they talked to each other and traded posts at one point. They did not go to the nest. 3 weeks prior, one osprey flying in the area but no one on the nest.
