Note: two in nest making noise. one kept flying away not sure if there was an egg. a 3rd osprey came by but was chased off
April 20 12026 wmcdonald 2 U N incubation
Note: I believe there is incubation as the bird never left the nest when I approached it and walked under it to reach the second nearby (unoccupied) nest. The partner came by with nest material and quickly flew off.
April 20 12025 wmcdonald 0 N N
Note: no nest in box
April 20 12184 wmcdonald 2 N N

April 20 12051 wmcdonald 0 N N
Note: I've check this nest 5 times and have not seen any occupants.
April 27 12026 wmcdonald 2 U N incubation
Note: one perched in tree closest to nest. one sat deep in the nest - didn't leave in the 15 minutes we observed
April 27 12185 wmcdonald 1 N N
Note: didn't think any one was incubating here. One osprey appeared to be nest building. A second perhaps was flying around nearby but only 1 went to this nest with materials.
April 27 12021 wmcdonald 1 U N incubation
Note: one bird in nest - remained there the entire 25 minutes we were watching
April 27 12184 wmcdonald 2 U N incubation
Note: nest remain occupied. possibly the mate was flying nearby but hard to determine. watched for 20 minutes
April 27 12186 wmcdonald 1 U N incubation
Note: Didn't realize the nest had an occupant until I checked my photos later. I'm not sure it was incubating I could hear frequent noises but never saw the osprey with my eyes
April 27 12022 wmcdonald 0 N N
May 11 12051 wmcdonald 1 N N
Note: Someone was in the nest today. only watched for a 1-2 minutes.
May 11 12026 wmcdonald 2 U N incubation

Note: I didn't think the nest had an occupant but then I looked at my photos and want to check again next week.
May 18 12021 wmcdonald 0 N N
Note: 100% empty
May 18 12184 wmcdonald 2 U N incubation
Note: 1 stayed in nest entire visit. mate returned to perch adjacent to the nest for the rest of my visit.
May 18 12185 wmcdonald 0 N N
Note: no ospreys seen here today
May 18 12022 wmcdonald 2 U N incubation
Note: I saw 2 birds in this nest . At first I was excited thinking there were young until I realized it was one adult sitting on the egg deep within and the one higher up on the nest dropped down onto the egg when the other left. The movement within the nest was just the incubator I hadn't spotted - big nest.
May 18 12026 wmcdonald 1 U N incubation
Note: I was here for quite a while and went to check on the other platform which is still empty. so the osprey never got up or moved even while I was right under it so I am pretty sure incubating. beautiful morning.
May 18 12025 wmcdonald 0 N N
Note: no nest here
May 25 12022 wmcdonald 2 N N
Note: Took a while but finally saw 2 ospreys in the nest today.
May 25 12185 wmcdonald 1 N N
Note: I believe I saw a small osprey head poke out at me once here
May 25 12186 wmcdonald 1 N N
Note: I was 90% sure I had seen an osprey when I first got here but then I decided to wait for complete confirmation before I left with my scope. It may have been just the light changing with the clouds that caused me to see differences in the nest at first. Very difficult . I had mixed this nest up with #3 prior weeks where I had good photos of nesting birds. My first picture I took zoomed in really looks like the head of an osprey however.
May 25 12021 wmcdonald 0 N N
Note: empty
May 25 12184 wmcdonald 1 N N
Note: believe I spied one deep in the nest. very hard to confirm today.
May 25 12026 wmcdonald 1 U N
Note: Believe she is incubating again - didn't leave nest. lots of vocalizations I kept looking for the mate to appear but did not.
May 26 12011 wmcdonald 2 U N
Note: I watched the 2 ospreys on the nest for about 15 minutes during the parade. They didn't seem to care even when the soldiers fired their muskets right next to us on Main street at the corner. When I left they had really settled down low in the nest.
June 1 12026 wmcdonald 2 U N incubation
Note: One in nest whole time - making lot of vocalizations. one soared above then perched in the trees next door. believe is incubating. Lots of people firing guns at the range didn't perturb her.
June 1 12025 wmcdonald 0 N N
Note: still empty
June 1 12186 wmcdonald 1 U N incubation
Note: I was doubtful last week that osprey was in here - nest is very far away. With my new tripod I did verify there was a head popping up rarely. 100% confirmed. Photo isn't great.
June 1 12185 wmcdonald 1 U N incubation
Note: Just could spy a head inside while I was here. I have invested in a high end tripod so my job has gotten a lot easier here!
June 1 12022 wmcdonald 1 U N incubation
Note: 1 bird deep in nest. lots of ospreys flying around today
June 1 12184 wmcdonald 2 N N
Note: After I saw the osprey on the rim of the nest at URI and then the 2 nestling heads pop-up, I believe I saw the same stage here on this nest. Both parents were on the rim of the nest the entire time I was here. I thought this was queer because the mom had been elusively burrowed down in the nest prior weeks. So my theory is there are hatchlings and I will try very hard to see them next week.
June 1 12021 wmcdonald 1 N N
Note: I believe one of the males just happened to be perching here by the empty nest.
June 1 12188 wmcdonald 2 U N incubation
Note: cathyv is correct. I was able to see the osprey in the nest and got one photo of her right before I left. I went directly under the nest and actually saw her thru the sticks but the photo didn't show anything but sticks. The partner I believe was located on the next power line down and flew away when I approached. This was my first humbling experience today as I had failed to see an osprey here the prior weeks.
June 1 12051 wmcdonald 1 N 2 young standing
Note: I decided to check this nest on my way home yesterday. I have learned the mother now perches on the rim of the nest when the young have hatched. I was STUNNED and floored to see 2 little heads popping up right as I was about to leave. I will check this nest weekly now since I haven't seen anyone else log checks this year.
June 8 12051 wmcdonald 1 N 2 young laying down
Note: I checked on the nest 3 times this weekend. Saw only 1 head popup but on the third visit I see 2 chicks sitting up on the top of the nest! The adult had moved off nest to the adjacent light pole. The attached photo shows this.
June 8 12026 wmcdonald 2 N N
Note: No indication of young today. An adult has always been on the nest, but today was perched on rim of nest. The partner came flying in and they made a lot of vocalizations.
June 8 12186 wmcdonald 1 U N incubation
Note: 1 bird deep in nest. I was thinking I saw other motion in the nest but couldn't be certain. I was here for about 15 minutes.
June 8 12185 wmcdonald 1 N N
Note: Bird intermittently on rim of nest. Was empty when I first got here but remained when I left. I was here for about an 40 minutes total.
June 8 12022 wmcdonald 0 N N
Note: Did not see anybody here today
June 8 12184 wmcdonald 1 N 1 young laying down
Note: I believe I saw a head popping up today but it was hard to see and I couldn't get a photo of it. The adult was perched on the rim of the nest and perhaps the mate was flying nearby.
June 8 12188 wmcdonald 0 N N
Note: Did not see any osprey here, but clearly heard one or more in the vicinity.
June 9 12141 wmcdonald 2 N 3 feeding, young laying down
Note: Watched a feeding today . the camera has rain on it so it's blurry but I clearly see one small chick begging for food. adult sat down on her after eating a lot of fish. hard to tell if the baby got much to eat or not. Watching more today - see 3 chicks - photo attached.
June 15 12026 wmcdonald 1 U N
Note: noisy as usual but no sign of chicks. mom acted like still incubating
June 15 12186 wmcdonald 0 N N
Note: nothing observed here today.
June 15 12185 wmcdonald 1 N 1 young standing
Note: The nestling is very large actually. This was my first time seeing a chick at this nest. It was not possible to see them before - the nest must be very deep. I only saw it briefly so no pictures. Mom came and went a few times.
June 15 12022 wmcdonald 1 N 1 young standing
Note: Quite shocked to see a chick emerge from this nest today as I thought it was abandoned other times. I thought it was empty again when I arrived but one adult and one chick seen. It seems I came at naptime today.
June 15 12184 wmcdonald 1 N N
Note: Disappointed I did not see a chick today since I could get no photos of it last week. It must have been naptime. Only the one adult perched on nest.
June 15 12188 wmcdonald 1 N N
Note: Saw the mom in the nest the whole time and noisy again. stayed put the whole time and visible (unlike prior visits where it was hiding). no sign of the mate or chicks.
June 21 12051 wmcdonald 1 N 2 young standing
Note: One chick was standing with mom on the rim of nest . Saw second nestling pop head out from middle of nest before I left .
June 22 12186 wmcdonald 0 N N
Note: nothing
June 22 12185 wmcdonald 1 N 2 young standing
Note: Adult perched on nest. Verified 2 nestlings. Imagine there could be a 3rd but I only saw 2 at a time together. Hungry kids.
June 22 12022 wmcdonald 1 N 1 feeding, young laying down
Note: Clearly saw mom ripping up a bloody fish and feeding it to something. I couldn't get a clear view of the nestlings however. She was busy feeding the whole time I was there.
June 22 12021 wmcdonald 1 N N
Note: Looked like one of the males was relaxing where this nest once was today. He flew into the trees when I tried to photograph him.
June 22 12184 wmcdonald 1 N N
Note: Only saw 1 adult briefly here. not sure if they left or hiding down in nest.
June 22 12188 wmcdonald 1 U N incubation
Note: Appears to be incubating perhaps - 1 osprey deep in nest still. No other activity noted.
June 22 12026 wmcdonald 1 N N
Note: First time I see nothing in this nest in 2025. I believe mom was in the tree. She flew up into the nest and perched on edge right as I was leaving however. Noisy as usual.
June 29 12026 wmcdonald 0 N 2 young standing
Note: Glimpsed a second head briefly. The first chick is standing and looking good. I only confirmed it is a juvenile because of the amber eye color.
June 29 12022 wmcdonald 1 N 1 feeding, young laying down
Note: Watched mom feeding the whole time I was there. Only saw 1 chick feeding.
June 29 12186 wmcdonald 0 N N
Note: nest appears to be abandoned. 3 weeks in a row with no sign of life.
June 29 12185 wmcdonald 1 N 2 young laying down
Note: Only saw the two heads pop up later after I had moved further away from the nest. Glad to see each nest with chicks today.
June 29 12184 wmcdonald 2 N 1 young standing
Note: This was the most entertaining nest check I've witnessed in 2025. Dad suddenly crashed down on the nest with some little black birds. Then he postured over the nest for the rest of the time - I guess protecting other nestlings. One chick was standing up with mom and making a huge fuss - looked ready to take on the little birds.
June 29 12188 wmcdonald 1 N 1 feeding, young laying down
Note: Mom was busy feeding one chick. I could not really see the chick(s) inside the nest but it was clearly taking the food from mom.
June 29 12051 wmcdonald 0 N 2 young standing
Note: Hard to tell at this point btwn the young and mom. Think is saw 2 chicks.
July 1 12141 wmcdonald 1 N 2 young laying down
Note: Only 2 chicks in nest now with mom.
July 3 12012 wmcdonald 1 N 1 young standing
Note: I’ve driven by here every day this week and now fully convinced there is a nestling . I saw someone else parked observing the nest yesterday. Mom on edge and child standing up off center
July 5 11956 wmcdonald 1 N 1 young standing
Note: Mom and baby on nest : heard many ospreys in the area . I tried to find their locations but there are signs saying closed to public unfortunately
July 6 12051 wmcdonald 1 N 2 young standing
Note: Believe there are still 2 chicks but only 1 was standing up on the top of the nest with mom.
July 6 12026 wmcdonald 1 N 1 young laying down
Note: I had to have seen 1 chick in the nest when I first arrived but then it hid down in nest . Mom in the trees making noise constantly as usual.
July 6 12188 wmcdonald 2 N 1 young laying down
Note: 2 adults there when I arrived - then they flew away. Mom did return I think. I saw 1 chick pop up very briefly while I was here. Noisy as usual.
July 6 12184 wmcdonald 1 N 2 young laying down
Note: Saw mom briefly and 2 chicks. Dad likely also perched nearby
July 6 12185 wmcdonald 1 N 3 young laying down
Note: I watched for a long time as I saw not 2, but 3 chicks in the nest today! too bad no photos.
July 6 12022 wmcdonald 1 N 1 young laying down
Note: I saw the one chick with mom but only briefly.
July 12 12012 wmcdonald 2 N 1 young standing
Note: Perhaps it was 3 juveniles but I assumed it was 2 adults and 1 child . They grow fast either way . I’ll return with my scope camera next time
July 13 12026 wmcdonald 0 N 2 young standing
Note: Can clearly see now there are 2 juveniles here because of the feather patterns. This is the first time I have not seen the noisy mother near the nest this year. But I never have been here at 3pm before either.
July 13 12186 wmcdonald 1 N 1 young laying down
Note: Very clearly a juvenile in the nest on the far side from my position adult perched above on rim of nest
July 13 12188 wmcdonald 0 N N
Note: I tried hiking into the swamp to get under this nest but it is impassable with thorns now. Didn't see any sign of life on the nest today.
July 13 12021 wmcdonald 1 N N
Note: There's no nest here but this guy is here every time I visit.
July 13 12184 wmcdonald 1 N 1 feeding
Note: Just saw the a single head poke up at first. Then much later when I was on the other side of the swamp I noticed adult was back feeding at least 1 juvenile.
July 13 12185 wmcdonald 0 N N
Note: After seeing 3 juveniles last week - I saw absolute zero today.
July 13 12022 wmcdonald 1 N 1 young standing
Note: Believe I saw adult mama perched on edge of nest, and a youngster briefly visible down in the nest.
July 19 12051 wmcdonald 2 N 2 young standing
Note: Very exciting nest check today. There was only 1 in the nest when I arrived but the 3 more appeared. 1 landed. 2 kept flying around and eventually took off to the south - off to hunt I'm sure. I believe the 2 juveniles were left behind. The next day I came back and the nest was totally empty!
July 20 12026 wmcdonald 0 N 1 feeding, young standing
Note: Only 1 bird in nest feeding. Definitely juvenile. I got too close and she took off with her meal in her talons before I could snap another photo. I felt terrible for disturbing her but surely confirmed they have fledged.
July 20 12186 wmcdonald 0 N N
Note: Nest was empty but there appeared to be young ospreys on the neighboring pole building a nest!
July 20 12185 wmcdonald 0 N 1 young standing
Note: I'm not sure what I saw. There was one osprey in the nest at first then it hopped out and perched nearby. I thought there was an adult here too. Empty when I left.
July 20 12022 wmcdonald 1 N 1 young laying down
Note: I believe it is the mom and child osprey here again today. This nest is the furthest from the trail
July 20 12184 wmcdonald 0 N N
Note: There is an osprey perched on the pole next to the nest. Probably an adult. Never seen this nest empty before!
July 20 12188 wmcdonald 0 N N
Note: No sign of life here today.
July 26 12051 wmcdonald 0 N N
Note: nest was empty every time I drove by this weekend.
July 27 12026 wmcdonald 1 N U young standing
Note: Mom was alone on the nest today. Really hates being disturbed and flies away when I get out of my car to take photos. She perched on a high voltage pole nearby after aggressively darting over head. I was confused thinking this was a juvenile
July 27 12184 wmcdonald 0 N 1 young standing
Note: Believe just 1 juvenile remains here today. Perched on rim.
July 27 12185 wmcdonald 0 N N
Note: empty
July 27 12188 wmcdonald 0 N N
July 27 12022 wmcdonald 0 N N
Note: empty but the new nest on the adjacent pole has a ton more sticks on it from last week!
July 27 12186 wmcdonald 0 N N
Note: empty again
July 27 12561 wmcdonald 0 N N
Note: A new nest has been built! two adults last week. Didn't see anyone around this time however the nest is much more developed
July 27 12039 wmcdonald 2 N N
Note: Two Osprey in nest. I suspect one was a juvenile but couldn’t be sure without my equipment. Indeed the nest is on the northwestern light pole above the soccer field - not as it’s indicated on the map on the water tower . There are 8 cones on the nest and 8 on the southwestern pole . Dislike.
August 2 12051 wmcdonald 0 N N
Note: No one around. I did see some perched nearby this week. Need to come late or earlier
August 2 12012 wmcdonald 0 N N
Note: I haven't seen any in the nest this week but one day I was driving by and an adult was flying over head. Today is totally empty when I stopped to observe.
August 10 12026 wmcdonald 1 N N
Note: Has to be the same adult I've seen most visits this year. very pissed off and circling overhead as soon as I got there. Landed briefly on nest then took off again.
August 10 12022 wmcdonald 2 N N
Note: Believe these could be the same adults I had seen making a new nest because that new nest is completely gone now. So I saw a total of 4 adults here in the swamp today and no juveniles as far as I can tell.
August 10 12561 wmcdonald 0 N N
Note: Oh darn it looks abandoned already
August 10 12186 wmcdonald 0 N N
Note: empty
August 10 12185 wmcdonald 0 N N
Note: Empty!
August 10 12021 wmcdonald 1 N N
Note: One adult perched here alone, with no nest. Same position as throughout the season. Believed it was a male before.
August 10 12184 wmcdonald 1 N N
Note: One adult perched on the pole next to the nest.
August 10 12051 wmcdonald 0 N N
Note: The Jehova's Witness conference this weekend seemed put an end to this nest. No ospreys.
August 16 12051 wmcdonald 0 N N
Note: Seems abandoned. Quiet today and still empty
August 17 12026 wmcdonald 1 N N
Note: So angry she flew away before I even got in sight but I could hear her on the nest from behind the locked gate where I had to leave my car.
August 17 12186 wmcdonald 1 N N
Note: Shocked to see osprey hiding behind the nest with my scope. I had kind of given up on this nest the past few weeks and was too lazy to set it up.
August 17 12561 wmcdonald 1 N N
Note: Feeding observed!! but no nest just sitting on top of the pole with dinner
August 17 12022 wmcdonald 1 N N
Note: One osprey perched next to nest resting.
August 17 12185 wmcdonald 0 N N
Note: empty
August 17 12184 wmcdonald 0 N N
Note: empty
August 17 12188 wmcdonald 0 N N
Note: did not see any osprey near it
