April 13 | wmcdonald | 0 | N | N | |||
Note: | no nest | ||||||
April 27 | wmcdonald | 1 | U | N | incubation
Note: | Didn't realize the nest had an occupant until I checked my photos later. I'm not sure it was incubating I could hear frequent noises but never saw the osprey with my eyes
May 11 | wmcdonald | 0 | N | N | |||
Note: | osprey was nearby perched
May 25 | cathyv | 0 | N | N | |||
Note: | Nest was smaller than #6, but appeared to be in good condition. Not sure if it was in use. or not.
May 25 | wmcdonald | 1 | N | N | |||
Note: | I was 90% sure I had seen an osprey when I first got here but then I decided to wait for complete confirmation before I left with my scope. It may have been just the light changing with the clouds that caused me to see differences in the nest at first. Very difficult . I had mixed this nest up with #3 prior weeks where I had good photos of nesting birds. My first picture I took zoomed in really looks like the head of an osprey however.
June 1 | wmcdonald | 1 | U | N | incubation
Note: | I was doubtful last week that osprey was in here - nest is very far away. With my new tripod I did verify there was a head popping up rarely. 100% confirmed. Photo isn't great.
June 8 | cathyv | 2 | U | N | incubation
Note: | One on the nest, and one roosting on the pole between IMP #5 and IMP #6. I don't know if it is associated with #5 or #6, but recorded it on #5.
June 8 | wmcdonald | 1 | U | N | incubation
Note: | 1 bird deep in nest. I was thinking I saw other motion in the nest but couldn't be certain. I was here for about 15 minutes.
June 15 | wmcdonald | 0 | N | N | |||
Note: | nothing observed here today.
June 20 | cathyv | 1 | N | U | feeding
Note: | Adult appeared to be feeding chick(s), but chick(s) were not visible above the edge of the nest.
June 22 | wmcdonald | 0 | N | N | |||
Note: | nothing | ||||||
June 27 | cathyv | 1 | N | 1 | feeding, young standing
Note: | Adult was feeding a chick, who had its head visible.
June 29 | wmcdonald | 0 | N | N | |||
Note: | nest appears to be abandoned. 3 weeks in a row with no sign of life.
July 8 | cathyv | 0 | N | 1 | |||
Note: | One chick sticking its head up above the edge of the nest and looking around.
July 13 | wmcdonald | 1 | N | 1 | young laying down
Note: | Very clearly a juvenile in the nest on the far side from my position adult perched above on rim of nest
July 19 | cathyv | 1 | N | N | |||
Note: | Adult(?) roosting on side post of tower. No other action.
July 20 | wmcdonald | 0 | N | N | |||
Note: | Nest was empty but there appeared to be young ospreys on the neighboring pole building a nest!
July 26 | cathyv | 2 | N | N | |||
Note: | One of the adults(?) landed on nest while I was watching.
July 27 | wmcdonald | 0 | N | N | |||
Note: | empty again | ||||||
August 4 | cathyv | 0 | N | N | |||
Note: | Nobody home. | ||||||
August 10 | wmcdonald | 0 | N | N
Note: | empty | ||||||
August 12 | cathyv | 0 | N | N | |||
Note: | No activity on or near nest
August 17 | wmcdonald | 1 | N | N
Note: | Shocked to see osprey hiding behind the nest with my scope. I had kind of given up on this nest the past few weeks and was too lazy to set it up. |
