Date Nest Watcher Adults Eggs Young Observations
May 2 11758 Jim O 2 U N incubation
Note: M&F initially at nest. M left. F remained and was eating, presumably fish brought earlier by M. F standing in nest, then settled to incubation posture. M returned and stood on edge of nest. M flew to a nearby light pole.
May 2 11763 Jim O 2 N N
Note: An adult pair was in the group of trees where there was a nest in previous years, but there is no nest at this point. No nest building observed.
May 2 11762 Jim O 1 U N incubation
May 2 12154 Jim O 0 N N
Note: No adults were at the nest but there was a pair perched in another tree on the peninsula. They never approached the nest.
May 2 12153 Jim O 2 N N
Note: Initially pair on nest, both standing. One flew to tree nearby. Then the other flew to a different tree. Nest is quite sparse.
May 2 11760 Jim O 0 N N
Note: The remnants of a nest active two years ago are still in place, but no osprey were seen in the immediate area and there is no indication of new nest building this year.
May 12 11758 Jim O 2 Y N incubation
Note: Initially both adults at nest. Both briefly stood. M & F exchanged positions. Incubating posture. F adult flew off. F returned with a long stick and added it to the nest. F flew off again toward bay. F returned with a small stick then exchanged positions with M. M flew off, returned and stood on rim of nest, called.
May 12 11763 Jim O 2 N N
Note: Still no signs of a nest at this location. Pair on branch near location of old MG tree nest. M holding partially eaten fish then continued eating. F perched on same branch calling. F moved to M, took the fish and flew off. M waited several minutes then also left. No signs of nest building.
May 12 11762 Jim O 2 Y N incubation
May 12 12154 Jim O 2 Y N
Note: Female in nest incubating. Male perched in the same tree.
May 12 11760 Jim O 0 N N
Note: Remains of previous years nest still in place but no signs of recent activity.
May 12 12153 Jim O 1 N N
Note: Initially one adult female standing in nest. It quickly flew to a tree at the edge of the field and remained there. In viewing the nest through a scope I noticed feathers and bones hanging from the east side of the platform. I took photos. Later as I was packing up to leave a passerby told me something had just fallen from the nest. I walked over and took photos. I think it is likely the remains of a dead osprey. The carcass was picked clean with just a few feathers and bones left. I reported it to the staff at the park office. The nest was substantially larger than when I checked it last week.
May 19 11758 Jim O 2 Y N incubation
Note: Initially one adult perched on a different light post, then it flew off. Initially nothing visible in nest, then a few feathers blowing in a stiff wind. Female incubating really low in nest, staying out of the wind. Male returned to nest without fish. Female stayed low in nest.
May 19 12154 Jim O 1 N N
Note: One adult Osprey seen hovering above the tree with the nest, presumably the male. The female was not visible though I would guess she was there incubating deep in the nest since there was a very cold strong wind blowing off the bay.
May 19 11763 Jim O 1 N N
Note: No Osprey present at old nest site but one perched in another tree nearby; no signs of a nest.
May 19 11760 Jim O 0 N N
Note: Remains of previous years nest still in place but no signs of recent activity.
May 19 12153 Jim O 1 Y N incubation
Note: Female in nest incubating. No other Osprey in the area. I'm presuming her mate died last week. If she successfully hatches her eggs she'll have a hard time protecting them and hunting for fish to feed them.
May 22 11762 Jim O 1 Y N incubation
Note: Female low on nest incubating in high cold winds off the bay. Male not observed at nest though he could have been one of several other Osprey seen flying in the general area.
May 26 11758 Jim O 2 U N incubation
Note: M in nest incubating. F on the next light post. Female flew off, circled to gain altitude then headed out over the bay where another Osprey was also flying. F returned to nest w/o fish and exchanged positions with male who flew off toward the bay. Another Osprey circled the nest but was warned off by the Female.
May 26 11762 Jim O 2 U N incubation
Note: F incubating. M not initially present but flew in from the south and landed on nest perch. F stood up stretched wings then returned to incubating. Male left.
May 26 12154 Jim O 1 U N incubation
Note: F in nest incubating. M not present.
May 26 11763 Jim O 0 N N
Note: No sign of a nest. One adult perched on the opposite side of the tree watching the salt pond.
May 26 11760 Jim O 0 N N
Note: Nest from previous years still in place but no signs of recent activity. No osprey in the immediate area.
May 26 12153 Jim O 2 U N incubation
Note: I was surprised to find M and F at the nest, having thought the male was killed previously. F was low in the nest incubating. M was initially standing on the edge of the nest calling repeatedly, then flew to a nearly tree at the edge of the field.
June 2 11758 Jim O 2 U N incubation
Note: Pair initially present on nest. F incubating. M flew to another light post then left the area.
June 2 11762 Jim O 2 U N incubation
Note: Pair present initially standing in nest and arranging nest materials. Then F settled to incubating posture. She seems more active, moving around in the nest, possible chicks? Male left the area and returned to perch on side of nest.
June 2 12154 Jim O 2 U N incubation
Note: Pair present, one adult perched in tree, one in nest. One from nest briefly left then returned and settled to incubating. Two other adults flying in the general area.
June 2 11763 Jim O 0 N N
Note: Still no signs of a nest at this location. One adult was perched in the tree tops well away from the location of the previous nest. Turning around and looking east I noticed a total of 10 osprey circling in the generall area of the edge of Colt SP and the Bristol Harbor.
June 2 11760 Jim O 0 N N
Note: Old nest still in place but no recent activity.
June 2 12153 Jim O 2 U N incubation
Note: M in nest incubating. F returned wet but without a fish and stood briefly in nest calling to ward off another Osprey flying in the area. Then F flew off again leaving M to incubate.
June 9 11758 Jim O 1 U N incubation
Note: One adult low in nest incubating.
June 9 11762 Jim O 2 N 2 young standing
Note: Pair initially standing on nest rim. Heads of at least 2 juvs. seen intermittently, barely visible at the rim of the nest. Unable to get a photo showing the nestlings. Male left the area.
June 9 12154 Jim O 0 N N
Note: No activity seen at nest. One adult eating a fish on a tree on the NW corner of the peninsula. No way to know if this adult was associated with this nest.
June 9 11763 Jim O 1 N N
Note: There was one adult perched near the location of the previous nest, but there is no nest this year as far as I can see in this group of trees. This is a popular perch.
June 9 11760 Jim O 0 N N
Note: Old nest still in place but no signs of recent activity. No Osprey in the immediate area.
June 9 12153 Jim O 2 U N incubation
Note: Pair present. Male incubating. Female standing in nest and calling. F flew off and perched in a tree at the edge of the field. M calling. A 3rd Osprey cruised by low over the edge of the field eliciting calls from the platform but it left quickly.
June 17 11758 Jim O 2 N N
Note: F sitting up in nest, not in incubating posture. M returned without fish landing directly in nest. I suspect there are young in this nest but didn't see any today.
June 17 12154 Jim O 2 N N
Note: F sitting up in nest, not incubating. Very hard to see any activity in this nest because of a branch hiding most of the nest. M perched on a nearby branch.
June 17 11762 Jim O 1 N 2 young standing
Note: F standing on rim of nest. Two young seen low in nest. Heads and part of a wing stretch only. Photo of one juv. uploaded.
June 17 11763 Jim O 1 N N
Note: One adult perched in the tree near the last nest attempt, but no signs of a nest this year.
June 17 12153 Jim O 2 U N incubation
Note: M adult incubating. After 15 minutes F returned and took over incubating. M flew off to a perch at the edge of the field.
June 17 11760 Jim O 0 N N
Note: Old nest still in place but no signs of recent activity. I don't plan to make any further reports on this nest location in 2025. Too late for a pair to start a nest now.
June 23 11758 Jim O 1 N 2 young standing
Note: Female standing on nest rim to provide shade. Two juveniles seen in nest. One appeared to be eating on its own from scraps in the nest. Both huddled in the shade under their mother’s wings. Photo.
June 23 11762 Jim O 1 N 2 young standing
Note: Female plus 2 juv. In the shade of her wings. Photo.
June 23 12154 Jim O 1 N 2 young standing
Note: Female standing in the nest with wings out to provide shade. Two juv heads seen.
June 23 11763 Jim O 1 N N
Note: One adult perched near the site of the previous nest. No signs of a nest this year. I don't plan to make further reports on this location since it is too late for a pair to start a nest here for 2025.
June 23 12153 Jim O 1 N N
Note: Female standing in nest, calling, very agitated. There is a red-tailed hawk in the woods calling (not visible to me). Female flew toward the hawk several times and eventually I saw it fly off. Four other adults flew low over the area. Also a Turkey Vulture. No sign of incubation or sighting of nestlings, but sometimes stood holding wings partially out to provide shade which could indicate young.
June 27 11756 Jim O 2 N 2 feeding, young standing
Note: Two juveniles seen. Female feeding one chick repeatedly.
June 27 12073 Jim O 1 N 1 young standing
Note: Saw one nestling today as I was passing on the bike path. Still has downy wings so pretty young.
June 30 11758 Jim O 2 N 1 young standing
Note: Female plus 1 nestling seen at nest. Female providing shade. Male initially on a different light pole later flew to the nest and remained there. Nestling's head only briefly seen.
June 30 11762 Jim O 1 N 1 young standing
Note: 1adult and 1 juv. Juvenile has feathered wings and was preening them. Surprised not to see a second nestling.
June 30 12154 Jim O 2 N 2 feeding, young standing
Note: 2 adults plus 2 juv. Feeding observed with scope but too distant for a clear photo. Female at nest providing shade. Male initially in nearby tree, eventually brought fish to the nest. Female feeding both juveniles. The appear younger than the one observed in the platform nest.

July 7 12153 Jim O 1 N 1 young standing
Note: Female standing in nest. Very brief sightings of one nestling, quite young. Another adult flew in and perched in a tree at the edge of the lawn. The female chased it off and returned to the nest.
July 14 11758 Jim O 2 N 2 young standing
Note: Adult male and female present with 2 well feathered nestlings. One nestling spreading wings, but not flapping. Someone who works at the summer camp told me one nestling was found dead in the ground recently.
July 14 11762 Jim O 2 N 1 feeding, young standing
Note: F with one nestling in nest. Male arrived with fish and female flew off. M also left but stayed in the area. Nestling was feeding itself.
July 14 12154 Jim O 2 N 1 feeding, young standing
Note: Pair initially present in tree but not in the nest. One nestling definite, inconclusive photos may indicate a second nestling. Adult lets and returned with fish stopped at nest but the took fish to a lower branch. After eating some it took the rest to the nest and fed nestling.
July 14 12153 Jim O 1 N 3 young standing
Note: Female standing in nest. 3 nestlings with downy wings (see photo).
July 23 11758 Jim O 1 N 2 young standing

Note: Adult Female with one well feathered juvenile, nearly full size.
July 23 12154 Jim O 2 N 1 feeding, young standing
Note: Female adult was initially below nest, then moved to nest providing shade. 1 juvenile in nest. Male adult arrived in a nearby tree with a fish, ate the head, eventually brought remains to nest. Female fed juvenile. I believe the second nestling is gone.
July 23 12153 Jim O 2 N 3 young standing
Note: Initially 2 adults and 3 juveniles, younger than other nests checked today. Male flew off and left area.
July 28 11758 Jim O 2 N 2 young standing
Note: 2 well feathered nestlings exercising their wings. Adult pair on different life poles in the area but well away from the nest. Expect these young to fledge very soon.
July 28 11762 Jim O 2 N 1 feeding, young standing
Note: Initially one adult who left. Then a fledgling flew in. Later both adults arrived with the male bringing a fish. The fledgling took the fish, carried it to the nest rim and ate unassisted. The male left but the female remained. My first fledgling of 2025.
July 28 12154 Jim O 2 N 1 young standing
Note: 1 adult below nest. 1 well feathered nestling, doing some wing flapping. 1 adult with fish perched in nearby tree then flew off with fish. I was unable to stay to see the adult return to the nest with the fish for feeding.
July 28 12153 Jim O 1 N 3 young standing
Note: Adult female plus 3 partially feathered nestlings. Much younger than other juveniles in the park.
August 4 11758 Jim O 0 N 2 young standing
Note: Initially no osprey at the nest or in the immediate area. There’s a baseball team practicing below the nest so that would probably chase them away from the area. One osprey heard but distant. Then two birds flew over and one fledgling landed in the nest. No adults seen. Spoke with camp staff who indicated both of the young fledged at the end of last week. Count 2 fledged young for this nest.
August 4 11762 Jim O 1 N 1 young standing
Note: Initially 1 adult on the nest, then it left the area. Later the fledgling flew in carrying a fish and landed in nest, but didn’t eat it.
August 4 12154 Jim O 1 N 1 young standing
Note: 1 nestling with fully feathered wings. Lots of feather preening, but no flapping. 1 adult in nearby tree. Another Osprey flew near the platform with a fish but didn’t land.
August 4 12153 Jim O 0 N 3 young standing
Note: 3 nestlings, two together on one side of the nest; one on the other side of the nest. Wings are not yet fully feathered. Mouths open, panting. No adults in the area. They look quite healthy, but younger than the other nests in the park.
August 11 11758 Jim O 1 N 1 young standing
Note: Adult female on a light post about 100 yards from the nest. After 10 minutes one fledgling flew to the nest, called repeatedly, then flew off again after about 3 minutes. Count 2 fledged from this nest.
August 11 11762 Jim O 1 N N
Note: 1 adult on perch who then flew out of sight. The fledgling from this nest not seen today, but count 1 fledged from this nest.

Note: Adult female with 3 juveniles in nest. One juvenile eating unassisted while the other two called for their share. One got in and took the fish while the third continued to call. Three other Osprey flying in the area provoked defensive calls and crouching.
August 18 11758 Jim O 0 N 1 young standing
Note: One fledgling in nest. It then flew off heading north and calling. Returned in a few minutes still calling. An adult with a fish flew by at the same time headed north. Flew off again, circled then left the area.
August 18 11762 Jim O 0 N N
Note: No Osprey seen near the nest platform during an entire hour of observation. Looks like the single fledgling is now independent. Adults may be starting to leave the area as well. Count one fledged from this nest.
August 18 12154 Jim O 2 N 1 young standing
Note: 1 young fully feathered initially lying down in nest; 2 adults nearby in trees. Female moved to nest and juv stood up. F calling. Still saw no exercising of wings during an hour of observation although this juvenile looks large enough to be flying.
August 18 12153 Jim O 1 N 3 feeding, young standing
Note: 3 juv in nest; one adult flew close to it but continued on. Later an adult arrived and dropped off a fish in the nest and immediately left. One ate while the other two waited, one calling repeatedly. Wing feathers much more mature.
