Date Nest Watcher Adults Eggs Young Observations
March 10 2950 Ken O 1 N N
Note: Male Osprey spotted on the Chimney nest at the Officer's Club tonight! 3/10/26
March 11 3556 Ken O 2 N N
Note: Nesting pair is together already! Male was arranging sticks and female was calling for a fish. Male took off to protect nest against an Eagle that was overflying the area. Fantastic to see them together again!
March 11 11261 Ken O 1 N N
Note: Spotted a male today on top of the sirens. He circled around the river as if fishing, returned with empty talons. Not sure if this is the resident male from last year, will keep watch.
March 11 5911 Ken O 1 N N
Note: Spotted a Male on the perch today! Will upload pic. Not sure if it is the resident male or a transient....will be watching!
March 12 6281 Ken O 2 N N
Note: Spotted this morning for the first time this year, the banded female (silver fed band on lower right leg only) and a male are present on the nest! 3/12/26 at around 8am local time. Happy to see them back! Wind was picking up and the weather will be nasty today. Warmer days ahead.
March 13 2950 Ken O 2 N N
Note: Nesting pair is together now. Nest updates in progress- male was delivering sticks as I watched this morning.
March 13 7032 Ken O 1 N N
Note: Female on the nest. I observed her grabbing sticks from a nearby empty nest and delivering it her nest - first time I've observed this behavior - a female working on the nest and stealing sticks from another nest! Wild.
March 22 11258 Ken O 1 N N
Note: This is a beautiful natural nest at the top of a tree. One adult has been seen on the nest for the last few days. Awesome.
March 22 7458 Ken O 1 N N
Note: Resident female has been spotted for the last few days. IN person Pictures taken today of the beautiful female. The Male has not yet been spotted in person or on the LSS Cam on YouTube. "Sandy Hook Osprey Cam"
March 25 8702 Ken O 1 N N
Note: First adult arrival 3/24/26-remaining on the nest.
April 5 3420 Ken O 2 N N
Note: Thanks, Ben, for updating the nest with new nest box. Looks great, and we have two adults on the nest as of today, 4/5/26. Observed the Male defending the nest against another male today. Picture uploaded. Good luck this year Patten nest pair!
April 6 12772 Ken O 2 N N
Note: One of 4 manufactured nest platforms on the north side of Parkers Creek at F.M.
April 7 12489 Ken O 2 N N
April 8 8702 Ken O 2 N N
Note: Mating has been underway. Also, intruders have been challenging, and both have been defending the nest - which looks well built and solid at this point!
April 8 7228 Ken O 2 N N
Note: Ospreys have rebuilt nest on this site, on top of utility pole and deterrent triangle. Nest looks solid and 2 Ospreys are occupying it. I hope that the powers that be will leave it alone! We will see 4/8/2026
April 14 2934 Ken O 2 N N
Note: At first glance this appears to be a normal nest with two adults exhibiting normal early season activities. A female has taken up residence here, and a male has been brining her fish and mating with her. Unfortunately, this is also the male that is a resident of the Lifesaving Station Nest. He has a silver federal band on his left leg! I have observed him and read his band numbers thru in person shots with my DSLR in addition to monitoring the Youtube cam at the LSS nest across the street on the oceanside to see that he is servicing both nests. This will be interesting to observe going forward. Thank you Ben Wurst for characterizing this behavior as Polygyny that is rare, but has been documented in the past. Will see how this goes.
April 21 3559 Ken O 0 N N
Note: The nest pole is still in place, but the nest platform was removed last year. This would be a perfect place to build another nest platform, but - will Netflix construction take it down eventually? Sad because the banded resident Male is in the area again this year.

April 26 12982 Ken O 2 N N
Note: This nest was constructed within a week of a nest being removed from a utility pole less than 100 yards from this nest. Hopefully it stays put - seems well built in the cradle of branches at the top of this tree next to Parkers Creek.
May 13 5911 Ken O 2 U N incubation
Note: Incubation behavior observed.
May 13 8702 Ken O 2 U N incubation
Note: Incubation behavior observed.
May 13 11261 Ken O 2 U N incubation
Note: Through a zoom lens, appears that they are incubating on this nest!
May 13 2934 Ken O 0 N N
Note: The "Polygyny" behavior has seemingly ended at this nest. Over the last week, I have not observed the female that was occupying this nest either on the nest or interacting (mating) with the male from the Lifesaving Station across the street, as in previous weeks. I believe since the eggs have arrived (incubation behavior observed) at the LSS nest, the male has stopped visiting this nest. Will continue to monitor. 5/13/26
May 13 7458 Ken O 2 U N incubation
Note: Incubation has been happening here for quite a while. Watching both in person and on the Youtube camera for signs of hatching. :-)
May 13 12489 Ken O 2 U N incubation
May 13 13134 Ken O 2 U N incubation
Note: Great spot - incubation behaviors observed.
May 20 13209 Ken O 2 Y N incubation
Note: The attached photo is long zoom taken from boardwalk looking north northwest
May 26 13187 Ken O 2 U N
Note: Have seen one Osprey on this tree since March, only noticed today while doing nest checks that the pair has built a beautiful nest in this location. Female and Male were on the nest and the female was calling for a fish. They were also defending the nest with calls to several overflying Ospreys here today. Picture uploaded.
May 26 2950 Ken O 2 U U feeding
Note: Definite feeding happened this morning as both adults were on the nest and the female was clearly giving pieces of fish to at least one young. Nest is so high that it is tough at this stage to see how many. Will give it a few weeks and I'm sure we will be able to count. In the meantime, all is well at this nest.
May 26 2934 Ken O 0 N N
Note: This nest is now empty. The female no longer visits and the banded male from the Lifesaving station nest is also concentrating on his fatherly duties there rather than exhibiting the polygyny behavior observed earlier this spring. Also, a new natural nest has been built 100 yards +/- just north of this nest, visible from the boardwalk. I have entered this new nest on Osprey Watch, and 2 adults are there now.
May 26 3420 Ken O 2 U N incubation
Note: Nest looks great, and female observed this morning on incubation duty. Will keep an eye here. Have driven by occasionally over the last few weeks and have seen the male with fish and the female on the nest. He likes to perch on the green triangular channel marker to prep his prey.
May 31 13209 Ken O 2 Y N incubation
Note: Beautiful nest can be observed either from the boardwalk and look north northwest or park by guard shack and look due west. This photo is taken from the guard shack.
June 3 7458 Ken O 2 U U feeding
Note: Feeding was observed this afternoon after the male delivered a fish and the female did not leave the nest with it, but rather seemed to feed for at least 10 minutes.
