March 10 2950 Ken O Y N
March 15 3559 Ken O 1 N N
Note: Spotted the male from previous years today! Had to be a current day arrival as I've been checking every day for the last several. Also observed his band and took closeup shot of his eyes to compare with last year - definitely the resident male. He had a partial fish on the nest. Also, after a few minutes he took off with the fish and proceeded to climb up to altitude and do some "Sky Dancing" for what was at least 20 minutes straight of circling and squawking, climbing and diving. So amazing to observe this behavior. His flight path took him on a very large circle around the area I would say almost a mile across. HE was everywhere, advertising his arrival to all of the Ospreys that have arrived here in Oceanport, NJ in the last few days, and there are quite a few. Happy Spring!

April 16 7458 Ken O 2 N N
Note: The male at this nest has a silver federal band ending in 792. Have been trying to see the other numbers, if anyone can decipher, that would be awesome! Male and female on the nest - continue to build it even though it is extremely overbuilt already. Work of art.
April 17 9615 Ken O 2 N N
Note: Observed Male and Female on the nest today. 4/17/24 Mating was observed via the Barnegat Light Osprey Cam nest around 830AM this morning. Nest building behavior was directly observed and photographed today at 12PM. Red Banded Male Osprey with the code "49M" in white letters on Red Background on the right leg, and a silver federal band on the left leg. Unable to see whether there are bands on the female at this time. Pic will be uploaded here.
July 6 8702 Ken O 2 N 2 young standing
Note: As of 545am this morning, at least one nestling is visible with 1 parent calling for fish. Will observe again later to determine total # of young. Happy there is at least one!!! (EDIT). 2 Big youngsters confirmed on the nest, both big enough to do wing exercises and jumping jacks. ;-)
July 7 3557 Ken O 2 N 3 feeding, young standing
Note: 3 large young, one was doing wing exercises. Amazing that there is a nest about 50 feet away, also with 3 large young. Pictures to follow.
