Date Watcher Adults Eggs Young Observations Photo Edit
June 20 CyclistBarb 2 N N
Note: 11:20 - 11:45 a.m. This pair has built a nice, big new nest on top of the posts of the structures rather than on the top of the upper platform. It is easier to see the action which is good because I noticed the dirt/grass "road" extending around the tower and back to the solar farm access gate has been allowed to get completely brushy and up grown. It would be difficult to drive there although I have always watched this nest from that location. I saw an adult fly off the nest, calling and circling before it disappeared. Its mate remained on the nest. I could see her head.
July 12 CyclistBarb 1 N Y
Note: 10:10 - 11:00 a.m. One parent (presumably the mother) sat high on the nest with one chick. It is already 80 degrees! It is very hot.
August 2 CyclistBarb 2 N 1 young standing
Note: 12:40-13:00 The adult female was on the edge of the nest eating. The adult male was on a post of the structure, opposite from the nest. The chick was not very visible as it was on the far side of the nest which is very high. I can no longer drive around this cell tower toward the other access gate to the solar farm. It is all upgrown with heavy, high weeds and brush. I could only see the chick's head and I did not stay long enough to see if it has fledged. It was very hot by this time of day. I will have to return in the early morning in order to see the chick in action.
