March 23 | 9420 | Pianka | 2 | N | N
Note: | There have been 3 or 4 fish by 9am this morning. They seem to be nesting well and mating was observed yesterday. I believe this is a different pair than last year and am certain about the male. His eyes are a little orange.
March 31 | 9420 | Pianka | 2 | 1 | N | incubation
Note: | Egg laid at approx 930am. See egg, plus he returned with fish visible in picture.
April 3 | 9420 | Pianka | 2 | 2 | N | ||
Note: | Second egg laid at approx 145pm. Both adults, both eggs and fish visible in picture.
April 7 | 9420 | Pianka | 2 | 3 | N | incubation
Note: | She laid a 3rd egg at approx 2:45pm!
May 9 | 9420 | Pianka | 2 | 3 | N | incubation
Note: | It's day 39 for the 1st egg, so fingers crossed. Adults have been very attendant, bringing fish and nesting material and never leaving the eggs for more than a couple of minutes.
May 13 | 9420 | Pianka | 2 | 2 | N | incubation
Note: | At approx 10:23am, we lost an egg. Not sure if the egg breakage was intentional due to lack of food, or accidental, but she ate the contents. There did not appear to be a fully formed bird inside after at least 36 days of incubation. (egg 1, day 43; egg 2, day 40; egg 3, day 36).
May 14 | 9420 | Pianka | 2 | 1 | N | incubation
Note: | Lost second egg today. It's cracked, which they don't realize and are attempting to continue its incubation. The 3rd egg is on at least day 37 of incubation, so very concerned. Male and female both still dutiful, bringing what seems to be a good amount of fish (at least a few small ones each day), nesting material, incubating day and night. |
