Description
Pretty sure this is a first year nest (2013) built last year. Not sure whether they were successful or not, discovered this nest after the ospreys had left. 8-19-18 I checked on this nest over the past weekend. Upon first inspection the nest looked abandoned as parts of the nest were dangling from the power line. There was visible bird waste all over the ground below the nest as well as a bulk of the sticks used to build the nest. After a closer look there was the carcass of a fledgling Osprey among the pieces of the nest on the ground. It looked like the nest was destroyed from the top down not blown over from the wind. As is if something destroyed the nest and threw half of it on the ground below. The carcass looked like it had been exposed for sometime. back feathers and the ribs as well as part of the bare wings remain, - Pandion21
