Date | Watcher | Adults | Eggs | Young | Observations | Photo | Edit |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
May 3 | Paula | 2 | U | N | incubation | ||
Note: | M & F perching on field lights. Incubation with male close by on field lights. Very close to the nest. F kept bowing her head into to nest: possible tending to eggs, fixing nest or eating. M brought food for F; observed F eating (saw food dangling from her mouth. M perched on field light off to the side. | ||||||
May 6 | Paula | 2 | U | N | |||
May 8 | Paula | 2 | U | N | incubation | ||
Note: | Male gathering food, eating and shared with female. Male & female in nest. | ||||||
July 4 | tree | 1 | N | 2 | young standing | ||
Note: | While waiting for the Scouts to line up for the Parade, Lillith heard an osprey call, and that is when we spotted the osprey. Big Daddy went from nest to the Lights across from the nest. When the Dad left the nest, 2 young popped up and started calling out to the Adult. After 15 minutes the two birds started to flap their wings, and the wind caught underneath the open wings and then took them to the sky. Both flew for about 4 min together, then went back to nest, and the parent came back and started to feed them | ||||||
July 7 | Paula | 1 | N | 2 | feeding | ||
Note: | Finally saw the heads of two young osprey at once so there are definitely two. Mother perching and also feeding. | ||||||
July 19 | Paula | 2 | N | 1 | young laying down | ||
Note: | Saw one head bob up today. | ||||||
July 20 | Paula | 2 | N | 1 | feeding | ||
Note: | Observed nest for over an hour. Female laying down, standing erect, flapping her wings and chirping especially when male arrived with food, perched on northeast light pole and ate (male). Saw only one fledgling (good size). Observed male delivering food to nest and female eating. After eating, female left the nest three times and returned quickly. The last time she had a branch and did a bit of nest maintenance. | ||||||
August 15 | Paula | 1 | N | U | feeding | ||
Note: | Been watching the young flap wings and leaving the next for flight. Still not sure if I am seeing two young or two adults and a young. My telescope is damaged and I was not able to use it this year. I am in the process of replacing it. On two occasions I did see four osprey gliding overhead as I was doing yard work and the nest and field lights were empty. Could be the family I am watching. Today, August 15th, I saw one osprey on the field light where the nest is and two more on the field light closest to me. Again, they were silhouettes because of the natural light. |
