Note: There has been one osprey hanging around the nest for the past couple of days, but not incubating eggs. They’ve been staying near the nest, standing on the rail and nest edge preening, but haven’t even left to hunt. No sign of the mate. Incubation seems to have been abandoned.
June 1 9431 1 Y N incubation
July 7 12301 1 N 1 young standing
Note: The young chick was observed spreading his wings and bouncing up and down a bit…
July 15 12301 1 N 2 young standing
Note: Two chicks that both look of similar size… quite large
July 16 12301 1 N 2 feeding, young standing
Note: Two chicks being fed… they are both the same size!
August 1 12301 1 N 2 young standing
Note: Two large juveniles in the nest with an adult. Do not seem to have fledged yet. Both juveniles are the same size and about 2/3 the size of the adult… crowded nest!
August 1 12301 0 N N
Note: No one is in the nest right now! There is one osprey perched in a tree nearby. I observed both juveniles in the nest earlier today, so they must have fledged!
August 2 12300 2 N N
Note: After the loss of one of the adults, the other continued to live in the nest all summer. Today, I see there is a pair of adults! The original adult seems to have found a new mate.
