Note: 2 adults on platform side perch when I arrived, then one flew to a nearby pole. No chicks visible. One adult left and brought back a fish which it carried from nest to pole, flying right by the adult on the pole. This went on for 6 circles, I was unclear on what the adult was trying to do.
July 13 11855 Leigho 2 N 2 young standing
Note: One adult on the platform side perch eating a fish when I arrived, two chicks sitting erect with other adult next to them. No feeding of chicks observed.
July 15 11854 Leigho 2 N 1 young standing

Note: The young juvenile was sitting erect, alone on the nest and the two adults took off maybe to fish.
August 1 11854 Leigho 1 N N
Note: I could not see the juvenile on the nest, but it is a deep nest, so I don’t know if it was asleep or away.
August 1 11855 Leigho 2 N 2 young standing
Note: No feeding observed but one adult had a fish in its talons on the perch. The two juveniles were standing and looking around. Beautiful!
August 8 11854 Leigho 0 N 1 young standing
Note: The juvenile has fledged and was seen on a utility pole nearby. The parents were not in sight. Peter Goldberg took a beautiful picture of the family unit yesterday, 8/7 and saw the juvenile flying. The three of them are pictured on or near the nest, which must have been for the last time.
August 8 11855 Leigho 2 N 2 young standing
Note: The whole family of two adults and two juveniles could be seen on the nest. The two juveniles were eating, each had their own piece of fish. Once the juveniles had had enough, they Settled down in the nest, and one of the parents flew off with some remaining fish.
August 8 11850 Leigho 0 N N
Note: I spoke with Susan Haffenreffer on 8/8, she’s very disappointed that her chicks did not make it, though we don’t have any clues as to why the nest failed. She would like to have the existing nest taken down so that next year the osprey will start over Building a nest that is not as tall or deep. The house sparrows and starlings have taken up residence in the nest and were present when the nest was still viable with Osprey on top.
August 13 11855 Leigho 2 N 2 young standing
Note: The two juveniles were standing in a line with a parent so a photo revealed that they’re each a male and female.
