Date Nest Watcher Adults Eggs Young Observations
March 23 3616 knlowry 1 N N
Note: Male returned to the nest. He spent a few hours gathering sticks and taking them to the nest.
March 31 8647 knlowry 1 N N
Note: I woke up to a male osprey on the nest this morning. While he wasn't bringing new nest materials - he was rearranging the sticks that were there. I noticed he got a fish and took it to a nearby platform where he and his mate also nested in previous summers when this nest failed.

Note: One week later, still just a male at the nest. He is fishing regularly and bringing sticks to the nest in between feedings. I am hoping his mate arrives this week!
April 1 8647 knlowry 2 N N
Note: Noticed the female returned to the nest this evening. The male reluctantly shared a half of fish with her.
April 1 3616 knlowry 2 N N
Note: Female returned to the nest this evening.
April 5 8647 knlowry 1 N N
Note: There has been no sign of a female at the nest since the initial sighting on 4/1. I am assuming that female was just passing through and that is why the male was reluctant to share his catch!
April 9 8647 knlowry 2 N N
Note: A new female has arrived at the nest. She has very distinctive head markings - the brown feathers appearing to look almost like a helmet. She is fairly large and has made herself at home.
April 13 8647 knlowry 1 N N
Note: There was bad weather all weekend - wind and rain and so there wasn't much action at the nest. The male was spotted there from time to time but there was no sign of any female until Sunday evening when what appears to be the nests original female was there for about 30 minutes prior to sunset. I haven't seen the newer, larger female with the distinctive head marking since Thursday 4/10.
April 14 8647 knlowry 1 N N
Note: Male was on the nest this morning at sunrise.
April 15 8647 knlowry 2 N N
Note: The large female with distinctive head markings has returned to the nest! Edward (who I believe to be the original male) began bringing nesting materials to the platform as well as a fish for dinner.
April 17 8647 knlowry 2 N N
Note: Edward and Esther (who I believe to be a new female this season) have continued to spend much of the last few days at the nest. Mating has occurred and I am hoping for a successful season!
May 9 8647 knlowry 2 U N incubation
Note: It seems in the last 24 hours the female has not left the nest area.
May 12 8647 knlowry 2 U N incubation
Note: The female has remained at the nest around the clock. I have noticed her rise occasionally, seemingly poke something around underneath her and re adjust. On the few occasions the female has left the nest, Edward has taken over egg duties. He seems to give them a few minutes of air and sunshine and then he will sit in the same location that Esther sits on what I believe to be eggs. He remains there until she returns.
May 30 8647 knlowry 0 U N
Note: For the last several weeks Esther had remained at the nest obviously incubating eggs. Not including the few days last week during the Nor'easter, Edward had been seen at least twice daily bringing fish. When I returned home from work today no adult was at the nest. I have no idea what happened or why.
June 2 8647 knlowry 1 N N
Note: After a long three days with no adult seen, Edward returned to the nest thsi evening. He spent many hours just sitting there alone. Obviously at this point, the nest has been lost - I just wish I knew why. I hadn't seen much in terms of rival osprey and I haven't seen any Eagles in the area this Spring either.
June 3 8647 knlowry 1 N N
Note: Esther was at the platform this morning - if I didn't know any better, I'd say she is mourning. She is almost perched with her head hanging down. I wish I knew why this nest kept failing. The pair seemingly produces eggs - but never makes it to the hatching point. I can only assume that Edward isn't bringing enough fish.
June 10 8647 knlowry 0 N N
Note: It's been over 10 days since there has been any sign of the female (Esther) at the nest. She had been clearly incubating eggs and then disappeared sometime during the day of Friday 5/30. Edward, the male had been seen here and there for a few days but he hasn't been seen since June 4th or 5th.
