This nest is arguably too close to the platform nest across the creek, though it used to host a successful osprey pair up until 2022-2023. Since then, it seems to be preferred by Canada geese. Those fight with the osprey pair mid-April and inevitably the female goose wins and incubates her eggs in this nest. Once the clutch hatches, she pushes everyone in the water and leaves. The 'bucket nest' stays empty the rest of the year. Weeds are clearly visible until winter. Consequently, the osprey pair established their nest on the flat platform across the creek.
