Date Watcher Adults Eggs Young Observations Photo Edit
April 27 mferreira 2 N N
Note: Possible new nest on baseball field, observed two osprey copulating, and a third osprey in slight altercation (flying at the other osprey).
May 4 mferreira 0 N N
Note: No osprey activity observed, possible it was abandoned due to proximity of the other osprey nest on the soccer fields, but could have just missed them. Comparison of pictures after 1 week do show more sticks were added.
May 5 Kathy 2 N N
Note: 2 adults seen sitting on the nest. Possibly a third osprey coming and going? This new nest is in the Warwick North Little League field, near 80 Bend Street, just prior to entering the Confreda Sports Complex. The nest is much bigger than last week, and I saw one osprey bringing a stick to that nest. Perhaps it is not clear who the mated pair is yet?
May 12 Kathy 2 U N incubation
Note: Observed both adults on nest when I arrived. One flew to a nearby tree with a fish in his talons. Vocalizations heard. The nest looks bigger than last week. Nest building still ongoing. Two other adult osprey observed flying around the area.
May 16 mferreira 2 U U incubation
May 19 Kathy 2 U N incubation
Note: Originally only one in nest but male arrived bringing nesting material and stayed on nest.
May 24 mferreira 1 U U
Note: Observed one osprey sitting upright on nest and flew away to tree across field, couldn’t tell if another was in nest
May 26 Kathy 2 U N incubation
May 29 mferreira 1 U U
Note: Observed one osprey sitting upright but couldn’t tell if there is any incubating osprey
June 2 Kathy 1 U N incubation
Note: Female appears to be in the middle of the nest, presumably still on eggs? She opened and stretched her wings, adjusted herself in the nest. I could not see any little heads in there.
June 11 Kathy 1 U N incubation
Note: Female in middle of the nest, on eggs? Cannot see any young little heads. Male perched off on other light post in Field #2 as usual.
June 15 mferreira 1 U U incubation
Note: Female sitting on nest very vocal, then flew off nest in a circle around field and back to nest, continuing vocalization, then went back to sitting on nest.
June 16 Kathy 1 N N
Note: Female in the nest off to the side. Cannot see any young. No sign of partner male although there was another adult osprey seen with binoculars on the other “attempted nest” (?) in the lacrosse field.
June 20 mferreira 2 U U incubation
Note: Osprey incubating/brooding calling to mate who flew by and into trees across baseball field.
June 25 Kathy 1 N N
Note: Female seen sitting on the side of the nest. Her beak was open, tongue out, and she was seen panting. Very hot today! 95 degrees or so. It was not clear if she was holding up her wings to shield nestlings from the sun or she was alone in the nest. No male seen around this nest; however, there were 2 other adult ospreys seen with binoculars in far distance; they were sitting on top of what looked like a messier but bigger version of an attempted nest on the lacrosse field sporting light pole. The branches were placed underneath the light platform instead of on top, so it has no solid structure. Perhaps this is a young pair who has never built a nest before this year???
June 27 mferreira 0 U U
Note: No osprey observed in 10 minute window
June 30 Kathy 0 N N
Note: No one seen in or around nest today. (There are; however, 2 adults seen on the far away lacrosse field in Confreda and not sure if it’s this pair of ospreys or another pair trying to start their first nest). Will enter data on the other nest and keep track.
July 5 mferreira 2 U U
Note: One adult sitting in nest, flew away. Went to check other nests and upon returning saw the two adults on neighboring light pole. No sign of young.
July 7 Kathy 0 N N
Note: No one seen on or around nest today. Is it a failure? Of note, main nest was viewed and 3 adults seen flying around while one adult in main nest.
July 13 mferreira 2 U U
Note: Very vocal female sitting on nest. The male, or another osprey, landed on a pole across the 1st field to eat a fish but did not bring it to her. Upon returning from checking the main complex nest, she was still vocalizing (peeps and chittering). No sign of young
July 14 Kathy 0 N N
July 20 mferreira 1 N N
Note: Four Osprey flying high above, one on the nest upon arrival but flew off.
July 26 mferreira 2 U U
Note: Both osprey in nest but flew off
July 28 Kathy 0 N N
August 3 mferreira 0 N N
August 4 Kathy 0 N N
August 9 mferreira 1 N N
Note: Adult vocalizing on the neighboring light pole
August 16 mferreira 2 N N
Note: Two adults spending time in the nest again
