Date Watcher Adults Eggs Young Observations Photo Edit
May 25 cathyv 2 U N incubation
Note: Saw the (I assume) male bringing a fish to the (I assume) female on the nest. Male flew away, and when I looked up after writing notes, could not see female; I assume she was hunkered down in the nest.
June 1 wmcdonald 2 U N incubation
Note: cathyv is correct. I was able to see the osprey in the nest and got one photo of her right before I left. I went directly under the nest and actually saw her thru the sticks but the photo didn't show anything but sticks. The partner I believe was located on the next power line down and flew away when I approached. This was my first humbling experience today as I had failed to see an osprey here the prior weeks.
June 8 cathyv 0 N N
Note: Nest appears empty, but is mostly still there.
June 8 wmcdonald 0 N N
Note: Did not see any osprey here, but clearly heard one or more in the vicinity.
June 15 wmcdonald 1 N N
Note: Saw the mom in the nest the whole time and noisy again. stayed put the whole time and visible (unlike prior visits where it was hiding). no sign of the mate or chicks.
June 20 cathyv 1 N N
Note: An adult was roosting on the edge of the nest. No chicks visible, and the adult did not appear to be feeding any down inside the nest. Nest is noticeably smaller than the others in the area.
June 22 wmcdonald 1 U N incubation
Note: Appears to be incubating perhaps - 1 osprey deep in nest still. No other activity noted.
June 27 cathyv 1 N N
Note: Nobody visible on nest, but one adult was soaring nearby, just south of the nest.
June 29 wmcdonald 1 N 1 feeding, young laying down
Note: Mom was busy feeding one chick. I could not really see the chick(s) inside the nest but it was clearly taking the food from mom.
July 6 wmcdonald 2 N 1 young laying down
Note: 2 adults there when I arrived - then they flew away. Mom did return I think. I saw 1 chick pop up very briefly while I was here. Noisy as usual.
July 8 cathyv 0 N 1 young laying down
Note: Could just see the chick's head above the nest. No adults seen.
July 13 wmcdonald 0 N N
Note: I tried hiking into the swamp to get under this nest but it is impassable with thorns now. Didn't see any sign of life on the nest today.
July 19 cathyv 0 N N
Note: No activity seen.
July 20 wmcdonald 0 N N
Note: No sign of life here today.
July 26 cathyv 0 N N
Note: Nest may have been abandoned; it's looking kind of scraggly.
July 27 wmcdonald 0 N N
August 4 cathyv 0 N N
Note: Nobody home; nest may be abandoned
August 12 cathyv 1 N N
Note: One bird was on the next pole up from this (where Powerline Cut #1 is). I watched for a few minutes, then it took off with something (a fish, I assume) in its talons.
August 17 wmcdonald 0 N N
Note: did not see any osprey near it
