Date Watcher Adults Eggs Young Observations Photo Edit
April 21 Kathy 1 N N
Note: Adult osprey sitting on a very flabby looking nest (consisting of a few sticks from what I can see with binoculars from the parking lot). I cannot be sure if it is female or male. I saw 4-5 ospreys flying around in the air over the nest and over the school. I saw one with a fish in its talons who I thought was going to bring it to this nest, but he didn't. He flew away.
April 27 mferreira 2 N N
Note: Both sitting in nest, possibly eating. One osprey left and returned with a large stick (nest building).
April 28 Kathy 2 N N
Note: Two ospreys seen on top of this skinny pole with evidence of more nest building. It is not likely eggs are in the nest yet, as neither adult is centered on nest continuously. One intruder male osprey flew to nest and the male chased him away.
May 4 mferreira 2 U N incubation
Note: Likely incubating. One osprey was observed very close by on a light pole eating a fish, then flew up to the nest to join the other osprey.
May 5 Kathy 2 U N incubation
Note: Rainy day. Male osprey was in the nest incubating, female returned to nest from a nearby flight and male switched positions with her. (He hopped to the side of the nest, and she resumed incubation). He then hopped on top of her to copulate. He flew off seconds later.
May 8 mferreira 1 U N incubation
May 12 Kathy 1 U N incubation
Note: Male flew over nest and perched in a nearby tree. Vocalizations heard.
May 16 mferreira 0 U U
May 24 mferreira 2 U U incubation
Note: One adult very low in nest cup, after 8 mins observation another adult osprey flew by, both calling to each other.
May 26 Kathy 1 U N incubation
May 29 mferreira 1 U U incubation
June 2 Kathy 2 U N incubation
Note: At first, only female in the middle of the nest. One distant osprey seen. Then, male osprey flew to nest, landed on top of female and flapped wings (copulation) , and then sat to the side of the nest, moved a stick around. Then he flew off.
June 4 mferreira 1 U U incubation
June 11 Kathy 2 U N incubation
Note: Similar to last week, witnessed female alone in nest with a visit from male, copulation, short company in the nest, and then flew off. I cannot see any hatchlings nor did I witness any feeding behavior.
June 15 mferreira 1 U U incubation
